Hey guys, OP here, I was a React dev for 2 years in my 5 year software development career, my current day job is mostly in Python but I still have a soft spot for React. I've recently released my React Native side project to production on the Android Play Store. I am an avid listener of audiobooks but I still enjoy browsing book stores to find new releases. What I found myself doing was taking pictures of books that looked interesting and when I got home manually checking each one to see if there was an audiobook version. I knew there must be a more efficient way to do this... the app you see in the video above, 'Scan to Listen', allows you to scan the barcode of a physical book and takes you to the equivalent audiobook on Audible if it exists. If it can't find one it fallbacks to Goodreads. You then have a historical record of all the books you have scanned. You can also regenerate the barcode so someone else with the app can scan your phone in the abense of the book. Select your countries Audible market place from the settings page and choose whether you want links to auto-open. I've tried to make the app as least invasive as possible, so it only requires camera permissions, doesn't require an account and all data in stored on the mobile device.
