We’ve been in a recession for over a year. What’s really coming after this?
The market makes perfect sense right now. Wealthy people have more and more wealth. If they leave it in cash the value decreases due to inflation, so they buy financial assets (and other assets) which rise with inflation. Stock prices go up because wealthy people need to park their cash somewhere and they keep piling in. This is why the market can be up even when the bottom 90% of the population is struggling to get by. The top 10% own 93% of stocks; the stock market is a reflection on how THEY are doing, not how the bottom 90% are doing. The rate cuts will increase liquidity giving the wealthy even more money to park in financial assets. More on reddit.com

Is California's economy headed for recession? - CalMatters
October 2, 2022 - In the three months since the $308 billion budget was enacted, the signs of slowdown — or perhaps the beginning of recession — have increased. Meanwhile the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis reported last week that during the second quarter of 2022, California’s economic output shrank by a half-percent while that of arch-rival Texas grew by 1.8%.
