The first piece of advice, make sure you are happy with the initial salary you sign. Only a 3% increment may be possible after a year or so. You will see a lot of people are moving out from RH because of low pay. But they are most of the time long-time Red Hatters. (generally after 7 yrs or so) RH culture is very nice. Don't try to destroy it by working on weekends. If you are not into DevOps, it'll be a bit challenging. Unless you work for a product team, you'll be slowly transitioning yourself into devops/SRE role. To answer your questions: - Career is good, but salary I doubt - It's possible once you are settled with your current role - Possible if you are ready to cut down your salary - Impressive - No More on reddit.com

Wildly depends on location, level you're brought in at, etc. We try to be competitive with the market for any given role. I don't have any software engineer directs at the moment so I couldn't tell you any real numbers. As a Master's student with an internship it's possible we'd bring you in as a mid-level but depends on your background and the team/hiring manager. So your question can be rephrased as this: do i take this lower paying position but might be better for my future job prospects or do i stick with my current job? I am assuming you are currently on another internship in the tech field. But aren't they not supposed to overlap? You are missing a lot of details. Personally i would say since internship is suppose to be experience acquiring less about raking in the dough i would choose to broaden my horizons as much as possible. Your FTE salary will make your internship money look like peanuts. I don't even remember what i got paid for as an intern (not at RH). I don't work for Red Hat we just use their stuff.
