I need a windows laptop for video editing, gaming, programming and for school. I would also need more than 5 hours of battery life and i would prefer if the laptop has touch screen. I would love if the laptop is using an Nvidia GPU and an Intel CPU.
Thanks in advance
I have been looking for the best, or a list of a few of the best recommended windows laptops on the market right now in the price range of $1000-$2000 that will last for several years. I just need something to play some games on, nothing too crazy but would love a good amount of storage as I tend to install a bunch of games, as well as web browsing and something light-weight where I wont be burdened by carrying it around. I have been looking at some Razer laptops but heard they almost always had defective battery issues but am open to it if there are enough positive inputs, or any other well-known brand for that matter.
I have been skeptical of windows laptops due to Modern Standby mode (have this issue with my Dell Lat work laptop) where if I just shut the lid, the laptop doesn't shutdown and just dies in my bag overnight.
Any insight, recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated to get the best gaming laptop for the best price!
Hey All,
I know a lot of you here on r/gaminglaptops (myself included) are deciding on which laptop to pre-order, so I created a list of top 17 laptops most promising to help you decide. I expect my ratings and top laptop list to shift around a lot as we get more data, so don't take these rankings and ratings that serious--but instead as a rough idea of what I think about the laptop so far.
If you want to be on the safe side, I always recommend buying from a store that allows easy returns. I used the following factors to rate the laptops currently:
Thermal Design - Rated based on TDP claimed by the manufacturer and my impressions of the heat pipe design. This rating will be replaced my real benchmarks and temperature numbers as we get them.
Display - Rated based on resolution, brightness, refresh rate, and color gamut.
Build/Design Quality - Rated based on my hands on with each laptop while I was at CES, but expect this number to become more refined after more reviews.
Bang for the Buck - Performance and feature set vs expected cost of the laptop vs competition.
Premium Features - Based on speakers quality, high quality 1080P or higher web cam, Windows Hello, MUX, Advanced Optimus, and G-Sync/Freesync support, RGB Lighting.
Keyboard/Mouse - 50% based on keyboard quality, 50% based on touchpad quality
Estimated Battery Life - Estimates based on CPU type and WH of battery. More testing required.
Ports - A Perfect port rating means 9 High Quality Ports – 5+ Total USB A/C/Thunderbolt 4 (Ideally 3x Type A 3.2, 2x Type C USB-C Power Delivery Supported), Full-Size SD Card Slot, HDMI 2.1, 2.5 gb Ethernet Port, Headset Combo Port. Rating reduced for each missing port.
#17 Zephyrus M16 - High quality display. Main downside here is that it has a lower TDP at 140W to the GPU. Making this less bang for the buck, but it is also going to be bit more portable than the thicker Asus laptops.
#16 Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 - Excellent dual display laptop with high expected performance and screen quality. Not maximum TDP to the GPU at 165W.
#15 Acer Predator Helios 16 and 18 - Best 18" 16:10 display since it is the only one featuring Mini-LED. Not the highest spec'd laptop thermally, but I still expect this to be a real winner this year.
#14 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 - Probably the best ultraportable gaming laptop this year, but we have yet to see what Razer is bringing to the table.
#13 Asus ROG Zephyrus Flow X16 and X13 - Ultra portable 2 in 1 with eGPU the XG Mobile. Impressive design promises for thin and light with better display than last year.
#12 XMG Neo 17 and 16 - Liquid cooling laptop that should provide improve GPU performance this year, but we need to test and verify performance first.
#11 MSI Raider GE78HX - The GE78HX is the ultra performance 16:10 flagship laptop from MSI this year, though I think the display quality will likely be behind compared to Asus and Acer this year.
#10 Gigabyte Aorus 17X - The Aorus 17X a much improved gaming laptop at a decent price, but only 16:9 aspect ratio display that is probably lower nits brightness. Look forward to reviewing this one.
#9 Lenovo Legion Pro 5 - I expect the Legion Pro 5 to be one of the best bang for buck laptops with an good price and excellent display for the money. We'll see.
#8 Asus TUF A16 - Most promising All AMD laptop this year.
#7 Lenovo Legion Pro 7 - Legion Pro 7 has a design downgrade for RBG, but should still prove to be an excellent laptop. I wish they had an 18" version.
#6 Alienware M16/M18 - The M18 is the 250W beefcake from Alienware this year, and it look promising, but this all new design needs testing. Massive 4x M.2 slots, and heavier design make this the heaviest laptop this year.
#5 Razer Blade 16/18 - Unibody aluminum chassis with great display and extra premium features. Costs a ton, and I think the keyboard needs some improvements. Thicker this year, promising big performance improvements to match competitors.
#4 Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 - AMD Ryzen dragon range CPU version of the Asus laptops this year. I expect this to perform really well in E-Sports games with the new CPU, and I am really looking forward to seeing what it can do it.
#3 MSI GT77 - This used to be #1 on my list, but I reduced its rating slightly due to the lack of G-Sync and Advanced Optimus. The 4K 144hz display is incredible, and I can't wait to see what this top of the line high performance machine can do.
#2 Asus ROG Strix G16/G18 - The better bang for the buck Strix G16/18 promise fantastic bang for the buck vs the other RTX 4000 series laptops, starting at $2499 for RTX 4080 175W--paired with a great display and top of the line i9-13980HX--which the other laptops this year aren't featuring at this price point.
#1 Asus ROG Scar 16/18 - Incredible display on the 16" machine, love the fit and finish of the Scar series this year. I will miss the mechanical keyboard. The performance should be top notch now that the entire rear of the laptop is for exhausts. But there are less ports due to the thermal design changes.
If you want to see a more detailed explanation of why I picked each laptop, you can check the fully ranked list: https://listium.com/@GizmoSlipTech/80658/all-2023-gaming-laptops-ranked-list-gizmosliptech
If you want to see me explain more details in video format, you can check my video on it on my channel.
My goal is to be as helpful as possible to other gaming laptop enthusiasts like myself. I know that this list is incomplete and pre-liminary, but it's the best, most helpful thing I could come up with while I wait for these new laptops to come in and before all of the benchmarks are completed. I hope everyone finds a laptop they can love! Cheers! - Brandon
4080 m16 or scar, I cannot make my mind up please help lol
I am mostly excited about the Asus Zephyrus G14 and M16 with the 4080, because I want a nice portable laptop while having the power to game when I want to. It's a shame though cause judging from Asus' pricing on other regions, these laptops are going to cost a minimum of $3,000 USD. I got bored and changed my region a bunch of times and have seen prices at £3,299, ₩4,649,000, and €3,799.00 (all are tax inclusive) for the M16. (take that info for what you will). The Asus Scar 16 is not bad at $2,899, but I think it's too big/heavy for me. Thanks for this list though, it makes it easy for me to stay up to date on pricing and whatnot.
So, I'm getting a gaming laptop for travel purposes, and to replace my crappy old laptop that can barely run anything. (like it can't run its own OS)
Now. I'm going to use it for programming, game dev, video editing, and gaming
Any brand is fine, my top pick is:
• ASUS ROG Laptop
• MSI Laptop
• Razor Blade Laptop
Exclude:
• Lenovo Legion Laptop
• Dell Alienware Laptop
• HP OMEN Laptop
I'm waiting for any recommendations given. If you have a better pick or any Gaming Laptop that is on deal, then I'm happy to hear from you.

This month's update includes the best general use laptops that are available currently! Be sure to ask questions about your next laptop purchase!
My best gaming laptops list was last month. This time, I have an updated version of my general list of good general use options. If you are looking for a gaming laptop list instead, please click here to view my list from April 2023!
As a reminder, this list isn't a definitive list to determine what you should get. It should give you an overall idea of what you should be able to expect in a given price range. If you have any questions about anything listed here, let me know, I will assist you!
Here is a general list for options that are good for general use.
General use applies to anyone who streams videos or movies, browses the Internet, does school work, does music production, etc. This list also has options that are good for light gaming.

Here is a small guide for searching for a good general use laptop.
-
Look for a decent processor! For general use, you will likely want at least an i3 or Ryzen 3 processor for smooth performance. Big into multitasking? Then, go for at least an i5 or Ryzen 5 processor. It is important to note that Intel's 12th gen CPUs are superior to AMD CPUs in single-core and multi-core performance, a difference compared to the past. Here, I have organized the CPUs into general categories (generally in performance order):
-
Low-End CPUs: Celeron N4020, 4th Gen i5
-
Mid-Range CPUs: i5-1135G7, Ryzen 5 5500U, Ryzen 5 4600H, Ryzen 5 5625U, i5-1235U,
-
High-End CPUs: i7-1165G7, i7-1195G7, i7-1255U, i5-1240P, Ryzen 7 4700U, Ryzen 7 5700U, Ryzen 7 5800U, Ryzen 7 5825U, i7-1260P, i7-12700H, Ryzen 9 5900HX, Apple M2, Apple M1 Pro, Apple M2 Pro
-
Look for SSDs in laptops! If you want a smooth performance, an SSD is highly recommended for faster boot times and faster load times. Any laptop with an extra M.2 NVMe slot can add this Silicon Power 128 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Any laptop with an extra 2.5" drive slot can add this 120 GB Inland Professional 2.5" SATA III SSD.

Looking for a good battery life or low weight? It is available! If you're looking for a good battery life, look for a laptop with a large capacity battery. Additionally, if the laptop has a high-power CPU (H), battery life will be lower. For general use, most people will be fine with a low-power CPU (Y, U, P) processors, which will improve battery life. Another factor is a dedicated graphics card. Most users won't need one. If you don't need a dedicated graphics card, then it is a wise choice to avoid one for a better battery life. In the $500+ range, a low weight is easy to find.

Hi everyone,
Please visit our website laptopsdeals.net for laptop deals, reviews, and lists!
My list is updated this month with all of the latest and greatest gaming laptops featuring new Intel 13th Gen processors, AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, NVIDIA's RTX 4000 graphics cards.
You may have already saw my list of general use laptops. This time, I have an updated version of my general list of good gaming options. If you are looking for a general use devices list, please click here to view my list from September 2023!
As a reminder, this list isn't a definitive list to determine what you should get. It should give you an overall idea of what you should be able to expect in a given price range. If you have any questions about anything listed here, let me know, I will assist you!
This category applies to anyone who is on a tight budget, all the way to the most expensive devices. It applies to anyone who want to play lighter games, as well as demanding games. Here are some bullet points to refer to when looking for a good gaming laptop:
-
Look for a good processor! For gaming, the processor is definitely an important factor. It is more important than in a general use device, since games will benefit from having higher clock speeds and more cores / threads. Most of the U processors are not ideal for gaming, since they often cannot sustain their boost clock speeds. But, they can still make do on a budget. Here is the order of processor strength of the devices I will be presenting: i5-4300M < Ryzen 5 6600H < Ryzen 5 7535HS < Ryzen 7 7735HS < Ryzen 7 6800H < i5-12500H < i5-13420H < i5-13500H < i7-12800H < Ryzen 9 7940HS < i7-13620H < i7-13700H < i7-13650HX < i7-13700HX < i9-13900HX < i9-13950HX < i9-13980HX
-
Look for a good graphics card! This is the most important aspect for gaming! This is the main factor that will be able to fuel gaming capability. Here is the order of weakest to strongest GPUs that are available on this list: Intel HD Graphics 4600 < RTX 2050 < RTX 3050 < RX 6700M < RTX 4050 < RTX 3060 < RTX 4060 < RTX 3070 Ti < RTX 4070 < RTX 4080 < RTX 4090
-
Please keep in mind that for this generation of GPUs, wattage matters a lot. In general, higher wattage = stronger performance. For the RTX 4000 generation, the RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 reach diminishing returns beyond 100W, while the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will continue to gain more and more performance even beyond 100W. I have included all of the wattages that are known for the RTX 3000/4000 laptops on my list. Before purchasing, I would recommend watching reviews on YouTube.
-
-
Pay attention to thermals! This has become larger and larger of an issue in recent times. These newer CPUs can consume a lot of power, but some manufacturers have decided to skimp out on cooling, meaning that these processors will happily run at 100°C, which really isn't ideal for long term use. So, you should search up reviews on the device you intend on purchasing for an idea about how hot it runs. If you end up with a system that has a CPU that runs hot, consider disabling turbo boost. It will decrease temperatures by 20°C to 25°C in games without affecting gaming performance.

Anyone can tell me the best laptop in terms of specs and performance, aesthetics don’t matter and price doesn’t matter. Looking to use unreal engine at different locations. So I wanted to know the absolute best laptop in terms of specs( highest cpu, most p cores, best graphics card, most gourmet gpu etc.

I am looking for recommendations for a mid-level gaming laptop for my 15 year old son. He worked hard as a lifeguard all summer and will be spending some of his earnings. He is into Minecraft, COD, Fortnight, rocket league, plus a few others. He currently shares a 4 year old mid-level gaming desktop with his little brother that their older brother built. Running Adobe Premiere Pro and Fusion 360 type software would also be good.
His budget is $1000-1500. What would you recommend?
I'm about to buy this one https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-pro-series/legion-pro-5i-gen-8-(16-inch-intel)/82wk0046us.
Got a new credit card, will get $200 back after spending $500, plus 8% rakuten points, 2% CC points, and $101 in Lenovo rewards...should I find a use for them, they'll be there, it seems.
Hello, I'm currently in the market for a gaming laptop, this will be my first gaming laptop. Going from a 1080ti desktop. I'm mostly looking at the Razer Blade 16 and I currently have enough money for the 4060 version, but I'm saving up for the 4080. Is it worth to save up for the 4080 or just go with the 4060. Also wondering if its better to get a second hand Blade 15 from 2021/22. Planing on having the PC for at least 5 years.
My work place has asked me to pick out and order a gaming laptop . The budget is as needed. Can people point me in the right direction ?
17'? The new MSI GT77 13th gen. Go ham on the configuration this puppy can go up to fucking 128gb ram with 3 nvme slots.
16' ? Wait for the ROG zephyrus duo 16 2023 sku. nothing says slim (relatively, of course), miniled, duo screen and top end performance inside such a good chasis.
Looking for the most macbook alike (in terms of build quality)? - Razer Blade 16/18 with whole body CNC chasis.
Smallest lappy with most power? ROG X13/Z13 with 4090 xgmobile, or if prefer 14' zephyrus g14 with 4090.
Portable: zephyrus g14(7040hs+125w 4080)
Somewhat thin: rog m16(new chasis i9+145w 4090)
Normal : razer blade16(i9+175w 4080) or scar 16 (i9+175w 4080)*slightly more chunky but better performance &cooling
Heavy/not portable: strix scar 18(i9+175w4090)
Completely not portable: msi gt77 4090
Cool: zephyrus duo 4090
For me it's between the Asus g14, Asus m16 and Zenbook pro 14. For the g14 I like the form factor, it's still has an amd cpu which should mean great battery life and I like the upgraded mini led screen.
The M16 is the same but much better performance and hopefully cooling but battery life/fan noise will be the drawback. The Zenbook pro is a combination of both but has the best screen with a 120 hz oled panel, a fast micro sd card, and is lighter. It'll have the worst gaming performance of the three with a low watt 4070 and Intel cpu and probably have worse battery life than the g14.
So I'm personally torn between those three and price/reviews will be the determining factor. What are yours?
Strix Scar 16, Legion Pro 7 AMD and the Strix G16.
I'm more interested in raw performance in a 16" form factor.
I've been using a desktop replacer 17 inch laptop for these past 6 years that's now on its last legs . So I am mainly looking at the big 18inch laptops. I don't need something that is ultra light, I need performance and screen space in a form factor that easily fits in a backpack every few weeks. Furthermore, I am planning to get a high end set of VR goggles that need some serious horsepower to drive them.
As such, I am mainly looking at the ROG Scar 18, the Alienware M18 and the MSI Titan. All with an rtx 4090. They all seem to have some strong points but then lack in others. So its a tight race that's going to come down to pricing (I got the money, but no sense in wasting more than I have to for minimal gains) and reviews when they are out.
I'm looking for a laptop both for everyday use and for playing games. Can't really give a budget, because I'm not sure how Polish prices scale to USD. Which brands should I focus on? My tech nerd friend recommended getting something from the ASUS TUF series, but I've seen mixed opinions on their laptops. I previously had a Lenovo Ideapad, was satisfied as far as I know
So im looking into some laptops by Asus and have narrowed my pick down to 3 different 2022 models but by the time i have the money for it its gonna be late 2023 should i be looking into a 2023 model instead of sticking with my plan of getting a 2022 model?
TL,DR: Buying a laptop ion Late 2023 should i focus on 2023 models rather than 2022?
The laptops are primarily for streaming, some gaming of indie games, general web browsing etc...
Models: Zenbook 14X(UX5400), Zenbook Duo 14 (UX482), Zenbook 14X Space Edition (UX5401).
I’m looking to purchase a new laptop this year as a desktop replacement. Ideally 4090 + 13980HX.
Which brand and model has historically been the best desktop replacement? What do you predict will be the winner this year before reviews are available in March? Any recommendations welcome!

I'm looking forward to Asus zephyrus duo 16, MSI GT77 and possibly lenovo legion i7 gen 8 but that usually arrives so late!
4090M has been confirmed. A scam in my opinion but I'll let you give your opinion on it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to your comments !! :D
Curious to see what those 18 inch laptops are gonna be like from razer and Alienware
Well my "dream" laptop would be 17 inch 1440p 240Hz with a 7800HX3D (yes an X3D laptop cpu, I can dream lol) and 7800m XT but realistically I have not much idea, I'm just curious to see if AMD will keep up the price to performance advantage in laptops.
