I’m looking to buy King size mattress at Costco after years and man they’re so many different brands now! Details are in the title. Cooling feature might be good to have! It would be for me & my senior pup (I will add waterproof cover). I don’t have a specific budget because I see so many of them at different price point.
Thank you!
I bought a Tempur-Pedic firm mattress (from Costco) around 6 months ago, but it's already started sinking and causing significant lower back pain. I was expecting it to hold up better, especially at this price point.
I’m now looking for a better, firmer mattress option from Costco that provides good support and won’t sag quickly. I prefer something that stays flat and helps with alignment—memory foam, hybrid, or innerspring are all okay if they work.
Anyone with back issues have long-term success with a Costco mattress? Would love suggestions!

What is the best mattress at Costco?
Are Costco mattresses any good?
Is a Costco mattress worth it?
Been mattress shopping for a few weeks now and its brutal. One person gives a mattress 5 stars, best sleep ever, and the next person says its garbage and the worst mattress they've ever tried.
So rather than risk it with a super-expensive mattress, I'm going to go the Costco route. Looks like there are a lot of options from Leesa to Casper to Simply Modern to whatever else.
Out of all the options at costco, I'm wondering what the best choice is? Let's say $1600 or less...
I'm leaning toward the Leesa Legend Hybrid or Casper. Would loooove some help here! I'm so nervous about making the wrong call!
Looking for people to post positive experiences they’ve had with Costco mattresses. What was your process? What kind of sleeper? What did you settle on?
Limiting my search to Costco because I’m in a big city and the pain of heading over to various mattress stores and the woes of delivery are too much. We are 7 years into a nectar mattress and I wake up daily with my lower back soooooo stiff and im hoping it’s just my mattress and not that I’m elderly at age 35. I’m a stomach sleeper and weigh between 120-125 lbs and my partner is ‘ 190 and a back and stomach sleeper. I think? I like firmer mattresses with plushier pillow tops but honestly who knows. Sometimes pure memory foam beds feel too squishy and like I’m sleeping in a giant dog bed. I’m looking at the Novaforms but very open to ideas!
My spine thanks you in advance
We're in the market for a queen mattress, probably an innerspring or coil style.
Have you found one that you really like? Any of them to avoid?
We're replacing a queen that we bought many years ago from Costco. Its not a great mattress but has served its purpose.
Edit: thanks, all, for the helpful replies!
I’m on the hunt for a new mattress and could really use some advice—especially from those who have experience with Costco’s mattress selection.
Here’s our situation:
-
I weigh about 130 lbs, and my husband is around 250 lbs.
-
He has three slipped discs in his back, and I’ve been dealing with lower back and hip pain from constantly carrying our newborn.
-
We both prefer a firmer mattress, but primarily for support rather than just firmness for the sake of it.
-
Budget: Ideally around $750, but I can stretch up to $1,000 max if it’s truly worth it.
-
Size Preference: Would love a king, but we currently have a queen, so we could stick with that if needed.
-
I know Tempur-Pedic is highly recommended and lasts a long time, but spending nearly $2,000 isn’t feasible right now.
-
My biggest concern is hip support—I need something that won’t leave me waking up in pain.
I’d love to hear real experiences with Costco mattresses—the good, the bad, and everything in between. Are there any models that worked well for back and hip pain? Any that we should avoid?
I have chronic lower back pain waking up on a firm Sealy Posturepedic mattress. I also tried a casper once upon a time that didn’t work. It really turned me off to foam mattresses at the time. I think I need a medium firm mattress.
Anyway, I need a change. I have tried toppers, and various other beds.
There are a few on sale at Costco:
Beautyrest 14.5" Silver Hybrid DualCool Plush Mattress
Sleep Science 14" Copper Infused Firm Memory Foam Mattress (firm)
Novaform 14" Serafina Pearl Gel Memory Foam Mattress (plush, medium, and firm)
Also not on sale but there is sterns and foster medium mattress available.
Anyone try these models or brands before?
Thanks!!!!
It looks like the $1,800 Tempur-Pedic and $1,400 Avocado are highly rated as top-tier options in this sub—can anyone confirm? I’m thinking about going all-in on the best since I’m returning my Sealy Carver Firm after a few years of sagging and back pain.
Update: Ordered the Novaform Legacy Premier since it seems firmer than the Leesa Legend. From what I’ve gathered, the Avocado is the better choice if I want something less firm compared to the Leesa Legend. Novaform was on sale, while Avocado wasn’t, so I figured I’d try Novaform for now. If it doesn’t work out, I’ll wait for Avocado to go on sale and return/exchange.
Thanks, everyone!
I’ve been trying to upgrade my mattress to help with back pain, but honestly, it’s been tough to figure out which one is actually worth it.
Have any of you found a mattress that actually helped with back pain? I’m looking for something that offers good support, keeps my spine aligned, and doesn’t cost a fortune.
I’ve seen brands like:
-
Tempur-Pedic
-
Saatva
-
Casper
-
Purple
Please help me choose the better one.
I have the stearns and foster Lakeridge. After a year it is significantly sagging where we sleep. I’m 5’9 180 and my girlfriend is 5’4 115 for reference, so not people who are prone to making mattresses sag.
Has anyone bought a Costco mattress they are really happy with and had held up well over time?
Currently looking at Novaform Legacy (4.4 stars), Novaform Comfortgrande (4.5 stars), Casper cooling select hybrid (4.4 stars), Casper cooling select memory foam (4.5 stars)
I need a mattress for combination sleepers. I’d like to buy from Costco because I can return it easily. But the Costco mattresses aren’t comparable to what reviews I can find online.
I’m in Canada. I bought a soft mattress and it’s creating all sorts of challenges.
Thanks in advance!

I think this should be what you want plus it’s on sale. There are a few people who have had this mattress before and seemed to have liked it a lot on Reddit and redflagdeals. I am personally going to go for the Kirkland as it’s one sale for 750 in store Costco only for a queen size.
I’m in the same boat. Looking for a medium firm hybrid that doesn’t sleep too hot. I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on the Stearns & Foster. I read that the tempurpedics get too hot.
I’ve been dealing with upper back and neck issues causing arm pain and need a new mattress. Currently using the Sealy Posturepedic Carver 11” Firm (Item 1486390) but returning it after 3 years. It started sagging despite feeling firm at first, and rotating hasn’t helped.
I’m a tall, skinny guy who needs good support. I’m usually a side sleeper but have been sleeping on my back due to the discomfort. Looking for a better alternative—any recommendations?
Are the mattreses that Costco sells any good? Can they be tried first? Can they be returned and if so, how do you do that? Do you bring it back yourself or do they pick it up? How long do you have to return it?
Typically a back and side sleeper, 210 lb male, 6'1". wondering if a hybrid mattress would be a bit more supportive for me.
I've been using the Costco Casper select foam mattress for about 2 years now, It has always felt a bit soft to me. Lately i've been waking up with serous low back pain that tends to go away throughout the day. Starting to think the mattress is apart of my back problems, I have even felt myself tweak it while rolling around at night.
It does feel like I sink in quite a bit to my current mattress, especially around my midsection. Thinking of looking for a new mattress. Will a hybrid mattress offer more support for me versus the foam base of a memory foam mattress?
I also have around 4" spacing on my platform frame. Wondering if this is too much space for a foam mattress, and/or if some kind of bunkie board would help me out.
Costco mattresses suck for people with back issues. They’re low quality garbage that work for people who can sleep on concrete. Go to a Saatva showroom and try the Rx. It has saved my back! 3 months no back pain. I suffered for years with 4 diff Costco mattresses and finally gave up
It definitely seems like your mattress could be the reason. You're right; your mattress isn't firm enough, it's causing misalignment in your midsection and leading to back pain.
Casper mattresses, especially the Wave Hybrid, are great for side sleepers. However, it looks like you might be too heavy for them. This mattress might be too plush, it'll to inadequate support and more back pain. So, avoid that hybrid!
Hybrids offer a better balance of comfort and support so they should help keep your spine aligned and prevent you from sinking too deep around your midsection.
BTW, that 4-inch gap might be too wide for a foam (or a hybrid) mattress. The mattress' foundation is very important, so some of your back pain might also be due to your bed frame. It can cause uneven support and lead to sagging over time.
100% a bunkie board or even some plywood over those slats could provide a more stable base. Your mattress will stay supportive and it'll extend its lifespan. But, it's kind of tricky, it could also make the mattress a lot firmer so if you're planning on getting a new hybrid mattress, you can't just get an extra firm one.
You could definitely benefit from a mattress with zoned support. However, the bunkie board might make it feel firmer than it actually is, so be careful with the firmness levels.
I’ve been on a bit of a mattress journey with Costco. First tried the Sealy Carver Firm—loved it at first, but over time it developed a sag. Now, I’m testing out the Novaform Legacy Premier, and it’s definitely ultra firm.. like too firm, not conforming whatsoever and has zero bounce, which I’m not sure I love.
Thinking about returning it and going for an Avocado instead. Anyone have long-term success with a Costco mattress that held up? Would love to hear what worked (or didn’t) for you!
