January 31, 2025 -

Hello! 👋🏼 What would you say is the overall best cordless vacuum for dog hair on hardwood floors? We have no carpet or area rugs but we have 4 big dogs (that shed a lot). Just looking for something that won’t easily clog. I don’t mind having to empty multiple times, we are just trying to avoid clogging! (Run time also isn’t a huge issue as this would be just for the downstairs). Thanks in advance!

*edit: i am open to all price ranges! (if it’s an investment, that’s fine!) although ~ $400 - $600 would be the most realistic.

We desperately need a new vacuum. We have three indoor dogs (two Labs and a Shih Tzu) and ALL hardwood floors. Our home is 2,000 square feet. We pride ourselves on having a very clean home — our RoboRock runs every night, and we deep clean (sweep, vacuum, mop, dust — the whole 9 yards) every Friday. Well, long story short, I am HIGHLY disappointed in the Bissell. We sold a rug that had been used in our home for less than 6 months and the buyer said they had two canisters of dirt and pet hair come out of the rug when they got home. I’m embarrassed more than anything! We keep a clean home and vacuum very regularly, so I’m mortified that it was so dirty. We are in the market for a new vacuum that is:

  • corded

  • can seamlessly go from hard floors to rugs

  • picks up dirt and dog hair

  • doesn’t tangle dog and human hair

  • preferably less than $350, but willing to go higher if we need.

TIA!

Hey guys, I’m drowning in pet hair and my current vacuum is basically just pushing it around at this point. Need something that actually picks up fur from carpets, hardwood, and furniture without getting clogged every five minutes. If it can handle long hair without turning into a tangled mess, even better. Found this list on reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/newproducts/comments/1jbvvr9/top_5_best_vacuum_cleaners_for_pet_hair_2025_new/

Budget is around $200–$600, but I’ll go higher if it’s really worth it. My place has a mix of carpet, hardwood, and some rugs, so I need something that can handle all of that without struggling. Also wouldn’t mind if it’s good for dust and allergens since pet dander is everywhere.

Tried a few before but either the brush got jammed up or it was a nightmare to clean. Not trying to drop cash on another overpriced dust blower. What’s the best one I can get this year??? Thank you.

I have a white long haired cat who sheds like nobody’s business. I’m looking for something that can be used to vacuum our couch and cars.

Ideally something that has a wide attachment for the couch cushions and a smaller option for corners, and ideally $100 or under. It doesn’t have to be perfect, I just need less cat hair in my eyes.

Many cordless vacuums under $100 lack power and run time. I recommend looking at this Hoover Onepwr Blade Max AutoVac $92. It's a hand held vacuum that you can use with or without the hose. It comes with 3 standard tools plus a mini motorized tool for upholstery and stairs. Notably, this Hoover comes with 2 removable batteries, where most handhelds have one fixed battery. It doesn't have a hepa filter but most cordless vacuums under $100 do not have hepa filters either. It's on the bigger side of hand helds but that means a bigger bin, bigger motor, and larger battery. I don't recommend any Black + Decker cordless vacumms, I have one and it makes more noise than suction.

I have a sebo E3 that I enjoy but my wife is looking for something handheld that won't clog that can do basic hoovering of large tumbleweeds of pet fur for car and rugs.

We have 3 big dogs that shed A LOT and this fur often clumps up.

The floor type doesn't matter much as it's about even split of tiles vinyl rug and honestly I just want something that can lift the tumbleweeds on the floor and in the car and not clog.

We had a Dyson V10 animal pro and that clogged constantly and is now considered a waste of money.

Any recommendations please?

I have a two dogs and two cats, and the amount of pet hair I have is overwhelming to clean. I currently have a Dyson stick vacuum which I love, but it doesn’t cut it for this.

I am looking for a vacuum that can handle a lot of pet hair, a vacuum that a professional cleaner would use for this purpose. I am willing to pay top dollar for a good reliable and effective brand

Budget: no limit

Floor type: carpet and hardwood

Approx. square footage: 2200; half carpet half hardwood

I say you need a C3 Marin, the power head on it will work the carpet and the parquet twister is great on hard flooring. The Cat Dog model has the mid level power head and a charcoal filter with an added hand turbo brush (pros of it) but it’s the SEB228 power head. Marin has the SEB236 powerhead. If you want the charcoal filter to help with pet smells you can buy an Active AirClean filter and switch it out with the HEPA that the Marin comes with. The Marin also has an automatic suction feature so you don’t have to worry on changing the suction levels based on floor type. A canister will be your friend with multi surfaces as well as stairs. I wouldn’t go with the C1 as it’s not a fully sealed system which isn’t good for those with allergies. The C1 is still a good model, just saying the C2 and C3 are fully sealed systems. I wouldnt recommend the C2 Hardfloor as you need an electrical powerhead for your pet hair and carpet.

The Miele C3 Dog & Cat is a dream! My sister has it and brought it over for a deep clean of my apartment before my recent move, and you can’t even tell I had two cats living with me there. I’m between places, but as soon as I get settled in, I am getting a Miele model. They have so many different options and different colors too. I’m a recent college grad, so I’m not sure I’ll have the budget for the C3, but I found this massive database of reputable vacuum cleaner brands, and Miele has options for my budget, too.

Hi everyone! I’ve been researching cordless vacuums and was super overwhelmed before I found this sub!

I’m hoping someone here could make recommendations for (relatively) good cordless vacuums under US $600. I realize I won’t find something mind-blowing in that price range—but I’m on a student budget and something to keep the cat hair at bay would be nice.

I have WHITE tiled floors (and some carpet) in my studio apartment, and two cats. I love my cats and they keep me sane away from home but the hair and litter tracking is getting to me.

(I prefer a cordless because they’re smaller, lighter and easier to store. I’m open to corded recommendations if you think that would fit those specs too!)

Thanks in advance :)

TLDR: Budget: US $600, Floors: Titled + Some Carpet, Need: Human and Pet Hair

reddit.com › r/vacuumcleaners › help with finding a lightweight handheld vacuum as a supplement to pick up pet hair
r/VacuumCleaners on Reddit: Help with finding a lightweight handheld vacuum as a supplement to pick up pet hair
October 25, 2023 -

I am on search for a handheld vacuum to supplement my main vacuums. It will be used daily to pick up dirt/cat hair on the couch, bed, cat tree, or any corner that my robot vacuum can't reach. It needs to be super lightweight and not a PIA to use daily. Budget is below $150.

My place is about 850 sqft with carpet in bedroom and vinyl floor in other rooms. I have two cats, one of them with long hair that sheds, and a newborn coming in next couple months.

Currently have:

  1. Roomba: runs daily. It's an older version but works fine for the vinyl floor

  2. Kenmore Elite 21814 Pet Friendly CrossOver Lightweight Bagged HEPA Canister Vacuum: use once a month or whenever needed since the Roomba is not good for the carpet in the bedroom

  3. Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro Carpet Cleaner: use once per season

  4. Air purifier: already have two

The place is decently clean with my current set up but I figure I need to take better care of the cat hair/dander, because the baby will need to spend time in the living room where the cats and cat tree are. What would you suggest? Is my budget enough for a decent one that can last at least couple years?

Take a look at the Riccar Supralite. Should be right at your budget but use it with HEPA bags instead of the paper OEM ones. Possibly an Oreck canister as well if they are in stock or a Hoover Portapower if it is not overbudget. Same problem with the bags with these models as well. Plenty of aftermarket and OEM paper bags but I would avoid them like the plague unless you really could not find any HEPA bags in stock anywhere.

I already have a Roborock that I run daily, so I'm not looking to get a new vacuum. However my pets leave lots of hair on the couch, bedspread, my clothes, etc. that of course the Roborock isn't getting.

I've tried lint rollers but there's so much hair that I have to tear off a new sheet every 5 seconds, which is annoying. I've heard reviews for non-tape rollers as an alternative, but it seems they work just the same and are geared for the eco-conscious.

I don't care about price, I just want something that works well. Bonus if I can use it to clean crevices in my car too.

Looking for recommendations for a vacuum that can handle heavy pet hair. Three vacuums over 4 years have all gotten to the point where they shut off after about 5-10 minutes (I'm guessing due to over heating.) Our lab sheds a good amount so we need a vacuum that will last but isn't going to cost $1000. We vacuum the full house once a week. Tile downstairs, all carpet upstairs.

Looking to spend some money here but only on a quality vacuum that works on most *all* floor types. I have considered a roomba but for the price, I would rather just buy a vacuum and do it myself. We have dogs who SHED and a baby on the way so looking for something that is lightweight and has a hand held detachment, would be nice!
