Hello, I am looking into buying a dyson v8. We just recently moved in so our apartment (65 square meters big) has only hard floors, but we plan to add some carpets later on. I see that the cheapest one where I live is a Dyson v8 origin, but I can not find any reviews for it or any threads on reddit. How different is it than absolute, motorhead and animal? Prices:
Origin 280 EUR
Absolute 350 EUR
Would it be worth to to for the absolute considering the price difference? Ty!
I only really have a few rooms in my house that are carpet and need cleaned. I paid $300 or so for it. It’s great but the “max” mode barely lasts to clean my few rooms. I couldn’t believe how much dust and hair and crap it sucked up though! Wow. Are there better vacuums for smaller areas that I can get for the same , or a cheaper, price? I just want something small , cordless, and easy to use so it’s not a “chore” to vacuum.

Dyson v12 is 550 EUR, is it worth the 200 EUR difference?
Happy Easter to those celebrating!! We have an Amazon special $100 vacuum right now and want to upgrade. Is the Dyson V8 origin worth it in 2024? Or better to save up for something better? Thanks!
What is the difference? They seem to have the same specs and same accessories?
Hi,
Im looking for a compact stick vacuum cleaner under $200USD for hardwood floors and came across this. Is it worth buying from the official store and is there anything to know before buying refurbished vacuum cleaners?
https://www.dyson.com/outlet/refurbished-vacuum-cleaners/cordless/v8-origin-extra
Is this vacuum worth it for a sale price of $279 US? Reg price is $429 where I live. Debating because needing another vacuum for a 1400 sq foot house both hard floor and carpet in bedrooms, ours recently stopped working. Any opinions appreciated!
Dyson V8
Shark IZ862H
This will be a gift for my mom, they have a mostly carpet house, but the kitchen, bathrooms and entry way are hardwood. I'd say its about 75/25 carpet. They have two dogs, neither shed excessively. Allergies are not a significant issue.
At my house we have an old Dyson cordless one and my mom likes it, so I'd like to get her something similar as a gift. This will be her first cordless vacuum.
I see reviews comparing the IZ862H to the $1,000 Dyson, but my girlfriend is adamant about Dyson being the way to go.
The Shark is about 60$ more, so my question is if the Shark is worth it? Or should I go with the Dyson? Or is there one I'm not considering that would be far better in a similar price range?
Thanks :)
Larger apartment with all hardwood and a cat. From what I read on r/vacuumcleaners, we should have a soft roll brush for the hardwood.
I can’t tell if that’s what this comes with or not. Did we make the right choice? Will this be OK on hardwood? Do we need another attachment?

Hi, I’m tossing up buying a Dyson V8, and just trying to understand the differences between the various V8s - absolute, origin, extra. Can’t seem to figure out the differences. Also keen to hear any reviews!
For more context- I live in an 2 bedroom apartment and have carpets throughout!
I saw that Target is having a Black Friday sale for V8 Origin model. Does anyone know if it has HEPA filter at all? On Dyson website, it has a dedicated(?) HEPA model for V8 (also says only at Dyson.com) and wondering if that’s the only V8 that comes with HEPA filter. For Origin model, does it come with any “filter” at all? Thinking about buying cordless Dyson for the first time and appreciate it for your suggestions!
Thank you for your help in advance!
I am in the market for a dyson v8 but I am confused by the amount of them being offered.
I found something called “dyson v8 absolute 2022”, which would mean there is also a version from 2023? How do I tell the difference?
Secondly, what is the difference between v8 and v8 absolute? The motor seems to be the same(?) but correct me if I’m wrong…
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I've found a Dyson V8 Origin on Facebook Marketplace that is said to be hardly used. The seller is asking for 150 AUD, which is around 100 USD (still open to nego as well) so its a catch price for a name brand like Dyson. Honestly, I've never bought a cordless vacuum before so Im cluesless about them and ive seen may posts saying the v8 is not worth it but that was in the case of its original price not the price that im planning to get it for. I've always used those heavy corded vacuums (bucket-like ones), but that was when I had a bigger apartment.
Now, I'm a student living in a small studio around 18 sqm. I don't want to buy a big vacuum like the ones I used to have since it'll take up too much space, so I was thinking about cordless, thinner ones like this V8. My questions are:
-
Does it work on both wood tiled floors and carpet? I have both types of flooring in my studio.
-
Is the suction strong enough to take off dirt and hair from the carpet? I'm a clean freak due to my allergies, so that's why I'm looking for a vacuum even in such a small studio.
-
Lastly and mor IMPORTANTLY, how do I test used vacuums like this so I don't get scammed? What should I test and look out for?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey guys,
I was planning to buy a new vacuum cleaner for my mom for christmas. Only problem is, I can't decide which one of these, is the best deal/decision. I attached the images of the accessories that come with these.
Dyson v8 Origin = 265 euro
Dyson v12 Origin = 379 euro
Samsung JET 85 Complete = 399 euro
My question is, would the v8 Origin really be enough? It costs less than the others, but is it as good?
The cleaning is mainly about floor tiles and a lot of dog hair.
Thanks!
Reading through this subreddit, I know many people recommend a corded vacuum as the main vacuum. That isn’t really an option for me as the way my apartment is struxtured, I’m not looking to plug and unplug constantly between switching between floors, and the location of plugs won’t work for my carpeted stairs.
Therefore, I’m looking for a cordless vacuum. I bought I believe a Black and Decker cordless about a year ago before I rescued two cats. It barely works now and started smoking the other day so it’s time for a new one!
Budget: under $200 is ideal, however I am willing to pay the extra money for this specific dyson model as it is on sale at my local department store.
Needs: my apartment is mostly carpeted, two levels, including the stairs is all carpet. My bathroom and tiny kitchen are both hardwood, so ideally something that can be used on both. I also plan for my next place to be no carpet at all, so the duality is a necessity for me. Lastly, I have two cats. Want something that works for pet hair and cat litter as well.
The dyson appeals to me for the filtration system as both of my cats have allergies, so the less dust the better. Is this a good investment? I also am looking at the two links below from Amazon that are a bit more in my budget. However, I’m willing to pay more $$$ now if it’ll save me in the long run with replacing these cheap machines annually. Also open to other model/brand suggestions if you have!

Best Buy has a new version of the V7 that seems very similar to the new V8. The only difference I can see from the product pages are the colors and the hair screw tool being included on the V8. I thought that the V7 and V8 had suction power / battery life differences as well but they seem the same on Best Buy's pages. Does anyone know what the differences actually are?
Ordered a Dyson v8 as my Henry as given up. Going to pick it up after work but now starting to regret my decision as people are saying I should have gone with a shark stick.
I did ponder a shark stick but I had a shark a few years back during the mrs hinch phase and it only lasted me a year!
Can someone reassure me that I haven’t made a mistake. Owners of V8 did you ever regret your decision?
Hi guys.
I am looking for a cordless vacuum for my 2-room apartment.
I currently have a roborock s8 for cleaning floors, which works great (i don't have any carpet, only hardwood), and an old bulky corded vacuum that annoys me and is hard to mobe around.
Thing is, I have a cat, and I want a cordless vacuum as a secondary vacuum to:
-deal with small spaces where the roborock cannot reach, -properly vacuum random litter the cat throws out of the box -vacuum the cat hair from the sofa, cat tree, and furniture
I was looking at dyson v8 absolute which is around 300 euros in my country (Romania). The dyson v12 origins is more expensive but it also has an attachment for cleaning pet hairs from the sofas, so I think that would come in handy.
I also know about dysob v12 detect slim but I don't think the laser thingy justifies the 600 euro price point...and since the roborock deals with cleaning the floor it would be a waste of money ro buy that one.
Which one do you guys think I should buy? Recommendations are welcome as long as it's cordless vacuum and deals with pet hair well.
