Been playing Mekanism for a while, so far been the only tech mod that I could semi-fluently play from the beginning up until the point where you obtain your first digital miner and Ore duplicators.
Been stuck at this stage for quite a while because I have no idea how to progres past this stage and trying tae find help online had been interestingly difficult for me. Mekanism themselves doesn't provide some sort of an in-game guide book either tae complicate things stuff, blerrie. Ranging from people not knowing how Mekanism works or they simply ignore my question for "JuSt dO cReAte". Been wanting tae be able tae master Mekanism for a while or at least knew how tae progres until I could obtain the legendary Mekasuit and perhaps being able tae own large automated processing factories and those nuclear reactors.
Is there anyone willing tae provide me a comprehensive guide for mekanism or perhaps mentor me 'till I'm able tae be another master of the Mekanism world? I would really appreciate any form of communities, guide text or even video series that could explain how tae progress in Mekanism in a really easy-tae-understand and fun way. I could especially handle readings for hours if anyone thinks a guide text would be convenient tae read on.
Apologies for the seemingly beg-ridden theme of this post, I am just another learning soul wanting tae be able tae master a mod that he had held for a while. Any form of help in the comments, advices would be greatly appreciated too! Apologies for any grammar or sentence error in this long text too.
I run my own pack, on SSP, and I think about adding mekanism, it seems awesome, but I worry it's ore proccesing will break any form of balance, yes I can just ignore the ore proccessing part, but the I crave for maximum efficency, so giving up on this kind of option will kill me inside (I use cofh world gen, but removed the limitation on min Y for the ores) Edit: after being told here the different features of Mekanism I decided against adding it, as it seems too balance breaker for my pack, if any of you have an idea about nice mods that doesn't have enough fanbase or spotlight and are worth it, please let me know
I added Mekanism to a modpack because I needed a way to produce forge energy for another mod, and while it's a very interesting mod I never made much use of it. I had no use of anything more powerful than windmills and solar panels, which is a shame because I'd love to actually build the more advanced stuff like the reactors, but there's not much point in building them if they're just going to sit idle. So if anyone knows of any engaging, practical mods that consume lots of forge energy (or things within Mekanism itself that I'm missing) I'd love to hear it.
Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with the community. As many of you know, I’ve been very occupied with school and work which has drastically decreased the amount of freetime I have to work on Mekanism. While I’ve never once considered abandoning it, over the past couple years I’ve really only been able to periodically check in on the project, which I really regret.
I’ve spent the last two weeks catching up on the state of Mekanism, and had some chats with u/dizzydizzyd on the best way to handle the continued development of Mekanism and the emergence of Mekanica into the modding ecosystem in a way that creates the least amount of friction in the community. After a lot of work and discussion, we have a few exciting announcements we’d like to make!
The Plan
-
The entirety of Mekanica’s performance and stability improvements have been merged into Mekanism. This is the result of a development collaboration between the Mekanism and Mekanica team stretching hundreds of commits.
-
Moving forward, Mekanica will split course from Mekanism. This means that Mekanica will undergo massive internal overhauls and no longer serve as a drop-in replacement for Mekanism; rather, it will exist a separate ‘sister’ project with similar content but different vision.
-
The Mekanism team is evolving. Internally, we now have five seasoned developers actively contributing to the project and monitoring issues (thiakil, thommy101, pupnewfster, temp1011 and myself).
-
Our policy is changing. When I was actively maintaining Mekanism, I made it my objective to maintain a direct line of communication with the Minecraft modding community. Starting today, Mekanism team is going to enforce this at every level. Join the official discord here: https://discord.gg/nmSjMGc
Mekanism v9.7
Today, we are releasing Mekanism v9.7, which contains all the improvements brought about by the Mekanica changes. This is a massive update with fixes and improvements that have been collectively developed by myself, dizzyd, and the rest of the Mekanism team. A list of the most important changes is below:
-
Reduced memory usage of models
-
Overhauled entire sound system to work reliably with mufflers; reduced size of sound files by 90% and remastered for uniformity
-
Improved ambient lighting to avoid lag when machines are starting/stopping
-
Improved performance/behavior of Logistical Transporters; they are much lighter on server now and more efficient when moving large numbers of items
-
Overhauled solar power generation to be more realistic (they work better in cooler, less humid environments...and in space work REALLY well). Biome matters now and when it rains, they still trickle some power, but at significant penalty.
-
Rewrote turbine rotors so that instead of sending n2 packets per multi-block formation/chunk load/neighbor change they now only send n packets; also fixed various crashes associated with turbines across chunk boundaries.
-
Added additional translations for JP and ES
-
Removed transporter support for IInventory interface; refactored logic around how pipes/cables connect so they follow the marked areas on machines
-
Replaced the hacky rendering system for items with TEISRs (some soon to be moved to models)
-
Deduplicated a bunch of code
-
Added some helpful hooks/commands to the CraftTweaker integration to make it easier on the life of pack makers.
-
There are now Sawing Factories. (Thanks ToMe25 for the pull request)
Q/A
For the rest of the day, myself and the rest of the Mekanism team will be around to answer any questions and try to address any concerns.
P.S. - v10 will come. :)
My friend and I are sometimes hesitant to use it's stupidly OP things such as the Wind Generator, Digital Miner and Atomic Disassembler. They're all so easy and all so OP, especially the stupidly high energy generation from Wind Generator.
Do you try limit yourself in using some things if it's installed? Or just use them regardless, they're OP so may as well use it! I wonder how other mod devs think about the energy gen from it...
Read the title.
I don't want to hate on the mod because it is really cool and i like a lot of what it offers but it seems that in nearly every modpack it's in, it vastly overshadows everything else. The ethylene generator feels like the biggest offense since it makes nearly all other powergen completely irrelevant until it gets replaced by mekanism's own nuclear reactor.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on mekanism.
It’s a great mod there’s no arguing that. But given how easy it is to do things in ATM 8, is it worth going into Mek? I feel like even the ATM ores are easy to get, and they aren’t that hard to duplicate. Of course mek has the ability to duplicate the most, but I feel like it’s not worth the trouble given how easy it is to get ores now. Is there a way to make mek more viable in the future with updates?
I think mek should be like a mandatory thing in order to use the all the modium ores. I also think this would give more people the push to get into mekanism if they’ve previously been too scared to.
I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks.
Hey guys! So I have been doing some stuff with the Mekanism mod on a server with my friends. I currently have ore tripling set up and a digital miner that I am moving around to different chunks to collect ores. Next, I would like to work towards getting a MekaSuit. Looking around online, I saw that it requires a nuclear reactor apparently. What specifically do I need to set up to get started on this and gather the materials? Also what other ways am I able to progress in this mod (ore quintupling, etc.)?
Check out “RagePlaysGames” on YouTube. He has 30-something tutorial videos on Mekanism. He walks you through 90% of Mekanism.
The wiki says the Polonium Pellet in the Mekasuit requires a Pressurized Reaction Chamber to make, and not the Fusion Reactor. I'm not really sure where you got a nuclear reactor from any of that.
Hey anyone have a beginners intro into how to setup Mekanism so I can double my ore count?
Currently have the Heat Generator up & Metylluric but I have to make constant runs to the nether to refill my lava which is quite annoying.
Pls let me know!
I was just wondering if anyone knew why IE doesn't have mekanism?
Edit- I mean Infinity Evolved not Immersive Engineering
I would guess it's a combination of about 3 reasons:
-
Redundancy. As mentioned, there's already 4-5 mods that provide processing, pipes, etc.
-
Balance. Mekanism is several times more powerful than similar mods. The other mods provide 2-3x ore processing and Mekanism goes to 5x. Other generators provide tens of thousands of RF/tick, or hundreds of thousands only for ultra-endgame monstrosities like the 64x Nether Star Generator. Meanwhile, a midgame Mekanism fusion reactor can do millions of RF/tick, and advanced ones go to tens of millions.
-
Performance. I don't have hard numbers here, but I think there are problems here. The Solar Evaporation Plants seem to take up a lot of tick time for what they're doing, and the Logistics Conduits do not seem as processor-efficient as similar mods.
For me it really comes down to reason 2. I like Mekanism, but there's not really any reason to use other ore processing mods when it's in the pack.
Official FTB packs (not 3rd party) tend not to have Mekanism in them. They tend not to have other mods as well.
I’ve seen many posts and comments related to Mekanism being overpowered, but I still fail to understand what causes this type of thinking. I’ve played Mekanism and have delved into ore quintoupling, which is quite complicated and takes a lot of planning. The fusion reactor can generate 9.8M rF a tick at full employment, but tritium production can only be produced in direct sunlight, which is very limiting. I won’t compare Mekanism to draconic because… yea, but compared to mods such as Thermal Foundation or Ender IO, Mekanism feels roughly the same in power level. Thoughts?
ATM8 - So a friend and I started a world and had some issue with some mods but kept pushing forward. All is fixed now and We are pretty far in some mods like Mystical Agriculture and some others that are not really important to this topic.
I started to work on Mekanism and also searched what the purpose of the mod is and it seams like it’s just for ore processing and duplication of the ores. Excluding the mek suit and other power sources, Is it really worth getting into it if you have a decent MA farm with all vanilla and some mod resources being planted? Or should I put more time somewhere else
Just wanna see what people have to say.
I decided to go the Mekanism way this time but I never used it! I heard about ore pentupling 🤩 Any recommendations of a good guide to get started? Any advice?
I am playing on All The Mod 9 To The Sky and decided to make a giant build, I want to make my island into a metropolis, with multiple districts that would focus on a specific mod, but that doesn't mean it won't feature other mods, it is just that one of them is the main one that sets the style and purpose of the district.
The first one would be focused on Mekanism, I have rough idea what I want to do, but the terrain is massive, and so I come to ask the community of what you stuff you have in mind when thinking about Mekanism?
This is the planned area of the district, it is 2048x2048, or 128x128 chunks in size
My idea is to make a lot of small little houses / factories that would focus on one small thing, and as they would be small a lot of them would have to be built to make stuff produced in desirable amounts.
I personally think of factories (duh) in industrial or modern style, the factories are really loud due to the machinery inside, but the machines are not destructive, they don't produce pollution and if not for the loudness, they would be a safe for environment in large amounts.
