Hi folks, I'm currently a Tesla Model 3 Performance owner wanting to switch to a Taycan (reasons: better handling, higher-quality interior). There is a 4S with the Performance Battery Plus for sale nearby and I want to check it out.
That said, I like the acceleration of the M3P, but what I like more is that I don't have to manually switch to any "mode" to get the acceleration—it just works.
I'm reading that Taycans need to be switched to "launch control" to get the power they advertise. I don't really care to launch the car from 0-60 at red lights, but I do want the acceleration to quickly pass slow cars on the street or take gaps on the freeway. The 3 does this exceptionally well without ever needing to take my eyes off the road to push a button or switch modes. How does the Taycan do?

You do not need to switch drive modes to accelerate quickly. If you’re in Range mode, you’ll be slightly slower 0-60 than, say, Sport Plus, but unless you’re at the track doing drag races, you’re talking fractions of a second difference. It’s not as drastic as being in Range Mode or with Chill mode on a Tesla. Source: Had one.

I had a post regarding a similar subject the other day. I have a 2021 model 3 performance and a 2024 taycan gts. The M3P has a more snappy acceleration and higher top speed. It’s a smaller lighter car also. There’s no getting around it. I still prefer to drive the Taycan but you will notice the difference when you smash the accelerator.

May 7, 2024 - Now, from my understanding, the Taycans have options on how responsive, or not, to make the vehicle. Not sure why anyone would want anything less than crisp, no lag, in acceleration. Especially in a vehicle such as the GT. Increased charging speeds: I can attest this upgrade has enabled the vehicle to sustain higher charge rates, especially when the battery is presently at a high SoC (90%+). Regardless of the performance at your local EA charger, most of which are just horrid, you can see the increased charge rates.
