No they just work. Just check the tip make sure it's not worn out, pairs immediately to your iPad when connected, charges well, and that the palm rejection and pressure sensitivity are both working (to minimize the risk of them being fake).

I was tired of waiting for the 2 to go on sale to 79 again so I just got a refurbished one from. Amazon for 69 with tax. Made sure it was sold by someone reputable.. (Amazon warehouse I think) and it showed up a few days later, looks and works perfect. It was "like new"

Looking to get a refurbished 2nd gen Apple Pencil & would love to know if they have any issues. If you bought from Best Buy, do they work the same as a new one or if they have connectivity/ charging problems? Also I wonder about the packaging- in one of the reviews on the Best Buy site, someone’s pencil came in the box with no wrapping or protection. I don’t know anything about their refurbishing process to test functionality so just wondering if it’s worth the savings.

I’m not sure what you would do to “refurbish” an Apple Pencil (beyond cleaning it up and adding a new tip). I’ve have very good results with Best Buy’s Open Box stuff. Most of the stuff is brand new (despite what BB lists it as). I bought an Open Box Apple Watch (it was the current gen at the time) for almost half off and was listed as “poor condition”. I asked to see it and the BB employee took it out of the box - not a scratch or mark anywhere. Powered it on and worked like new. To this day I have no idea what they meant, but bought it, got Apple Care on it and it;s been working ever since.

I bought a used Apple Pencil 2 from Amazon warehouse. It was listed as like new. All the features (tilt, pressure sensitivity) work on the pencil and it even had the welcome animation when it paired. The only thing throwing me off is this logo on the pencil which seems to be ever so slightly skewing to the bottom of the flat area. Any guidance or additional things to look for would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think you’re overthinking it if the pressure sensitivity works. Third pencils don’t work with that feature I believe. But that aside, the text being slightly off does not make it fake.
