If you can afford it “always” go to the newer model, you will have hardware upgrades (in this case for example in the camera) and you are also a bit more future proof on iOS updates, if you want to keep the device for long run.
If you don’t use camera that much, you will be very happy with the Xr!

I will summarise for u: Pros: Large phone with large battery Battery life still ok/good It will get ios 17 A12 processor; still quite fast and efficient Good budget phone Cons: It has an LCD instead of OLED, LCD is less efficient than OLED Only has one camera 1st in line to get unsupported along with the XS when the X drops Display is 828p, quite low for such a large phone, average user won’t notice or care much Not great with low light photos I would give it a 7/10 for holding up so well until now More on reddit.com

hey there, i am a college student. My android gave up recently. Looking to buy a new phone in a budget it boils down to either an android or refurbished iphone xr. Which should i go for as I dont make my own money yet and would like a cheap but decent option. I considered an iphone because cheap but new androids still dont have a comparable camera and I dont want to ask someone else to click photos anymore.
Will iphone xr still receive security updates after ios 18 gets released? I also dont want to neglect working just for the camera. I hope it last at least one or two years. 64 gb would do or 128gb?

I have an older relative who has been on a flip phone for about a year. He cannot text or get voice mails bc it is too complicated. I thought perhaps an XR would be fine bc they are pretty cheap at BB ($180) and he is not going to use it except to make calls. Is there anything to look out for with a refurbed XR? Would a refurb have a new battery or is that something that is a crap shoot? Thanks.
