I purchased a Samsung phone some time ago. 8 months after I purchased it the screen colours went crazy and then the screen died. I had not dropped the phone or submerged it in water. Samsung refused to give me a new phone and instead offered me a "reconditioned" phone. Of course that phone had not had a new battery put into it and I was stuck with the degraded battery from the previous user. Eventually after many hours on the phone complaining to Samsung they offered me a refund for the price I'd paid for the phone. It would have cost them a lot less to give me a new phone instead. The cost of manufacturing that new phone would have been significantly less than the refund that they gave me.

Was checking out the Samsun Store and saw they offer Certified Pre-Owned. They come with a year warranty and says they have been completely reassembled and tested. Samsung doesn't specify if they come with new batteries or if they maintain their IP ratings. Usually refurbished phones lose their IP ratings after being reassembled.
Checked the warranty, no mention of exclusions for water damage related to refurbished phones with IP ratings and batteries are covered if they drop below 80% health in the first year. This sounds like new batteries are put in and the IP rating is restored after re-assembly.
Anyone have any experience with Samsung's Certified Pre-Owned? Are they worth the premium versus other refurbished phones? If the IP ratings are maintained and comes with new OEM batteries, seems like it would be worth it.

I'm still using an S7 I got from them for 200bucks. It worked great for many years, but it's way past time for an upgrade. Still works, but so slow I would buy another pre-owned if I could find a model I want at a good price
