I'm trying to decide between the Patagonia Down Sweater Hoody and the REI Co-op 650 Down Jacket. I know the Patagonia one is pretty expensive compared to the REI jacket, so I’m curious if the extra cost is really worth it.
For those who have tried either or both, what are the pros and cons? How do they compare in terms of warmth, durability, and packability? Does the Patagonia justify the price tag, or is the REI one a solid option for the value?
Also, has anyone been able to score either of these jackets on sale recently? Would love to know about any deals if they’re out there.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
P.S. I live in Atlanta, so it's not crazy cold all winter, however it does get pretty frigid for a few weeks. I'd also be using this during travel to colder places.

Keep an eye on Patagonia's Worn wear site. One might pop up there. I've had great luck getting NOS there.

If the 650 is the fill power of the REI one, then I think Patagonia's has higher fill power. However, I live in a way colder place than you and have never needed a down coat. I have the Patagonia Down Hoody now but I mostly use it as a highly packable jacket for one-way winter running or as an emergency trail running jacket (eg in case of accident). I've not yet been in a situation where I would take it camping - even just below freezing I layer merino, fleece, and the Nano Puff.

I need a good and warm down jacket to wear in NY and was eyeing up the Campwell down parka as it looks slightly more fitted than the Stormhenge parka (which had some bad reviews about its double zipper failing) and it’s also cheaper. However the Campwell only has like three reviews so I wanted to see what anyone here thinks of it. I’m a plus size woman who runs cold and has long arms if that matters. Thanks!

I just got one and it’s sooo cozy, like wrapping up in a down blanket. Very fond of the side zippers on the hem so it doesn’t bunch up when you sit down. My only grip is I wish it had a loose Lycra-type liner on the cuffs with thumb holes. I’m a small and I felt like I could’ve gone with an xsmall, but I felt like the sleeves are perfectly long enough for my average sized arms and my wrists aren’t overexposed when I reach upwards.

Has anyone tried this jacket on or purchased it? The reviews say it sheds like crazy, but then other reviews say it’s fine. Also curious about the zipper - it’s not a double and I’m wondering if the bottom hem of the jacket stretches since it can’t be unzipped, or if it might be at risk of ripping with too much strain.
I know I can buy it and return it if need be, but I’d rather get a more definite do/do not buy first. Open to alternatives as well - looking for something a little warmer and longer than my Jack Wolfskin hip-length coat for a midwestern winter. Hood is a must!

I have the non-parka version and it does shed but it’s warm and comfortable.

I tried them on in store and I swear half of them the zippers would get stuck that I tried. Also crazy static electricity compared to other jackets. But I heard it’s still warm for a cheaper price. Just not what I would want.

I see it's for sale at $99. Does anyone have one? Just looking for some reviews. Was thinking about grabbing a Patagonia Nano puff but this one is cheaper. Some of the reviews on the website aren't the best.
