Finally, you need to replace the rubber feet with wide trekking pole feet because the ones the chair comes with just sink right in to soft ground, adding to the instability. REI replaced the fabric seat for me and I think this is an upgrade. Seems to be stronger and better stitched. ... I bought the REI Flexlite chair and used it for about 10 backpacking trips.

Lightweight Backpacking Chairs: REI Flexlite Air Chair vs. Helinox Chair Zero - Backpacking Light
May 24, 2019 - Long story short, my recommendation is you buy/ship all three to your home – don’t accept anybody advice that one chair is definitively the best. Each person’s body shape will have a different experience so try them out for a good 10-20 min each in a variety of positions. That being said, here are my 6ft 170lb male (long legs and medium torso) observations from a living room tryout (no trail experience yet). REI Co-op Flexlite Air Chair WEIGHT (chair only) – 16.0 oz STABILITY – Least stable of the three with side to side stability being the weak point; not a major issue to me as easy enough to self stabilize.

The REI Flex Lite chair is a great addition to a bike touring setup. It consists of a frame made of sturdy shock-corded tent poles, and a sling type seat that attaches to the frame at four points with reinforced pockets.

REI Flexlite Air Chair Review
Despite this difference, I feel that the Chair Zero is more stable and has less play in its pole structure than the Flexlite Air. REI Co-op Flexlite Camp Chair review | CNN Underscored
April 30, 2024 - At around 1.7 pounds, REI Co-op’s Flexlite chair is lighter than the latest Macbook Air. While that might be too heavy for ultra-light backpackers — REI sells a Flexlite Air Stool that weighs less than a pound — it’s plenty light for most casual campers, hikers and beachgoers.

August 26, 2022 -

I loved this chair but do not love the newer flexlite version, but mine was stolen during a garage burglary. I’m looking all over eBay, marketplace, OfferUp, etc. Any leads on where to find a used one or a dupe? I liked the height and mesh chair material compared to the newer ones are a bit higher, not as comfy of material.

Sitting in the Flexlite Air is really more of an act of gingerly placing rather than plopping your bum. June 25, 2024 -

I'm looking for a camp chair for car camping and to take to ultramarathons to tempt me to sit and to take to my son's soccer matches and such. Note: I'm not a backpacker or UL guy.

Is the REI flexlite camp dreamer chair a good buy? Is the 4th of July sale a good time to get it? Is durability similar to a helinox or are they worth the extra cheddar?

Hoping to order in the next 48 hours as I have a campout on July 12-14 weekend.

Thanks!

REI Co-op Flexlite Macro Chair
Classic camp chair: has four legs, a straight back and a flat seat. Afforable, stable and typically high enough to sit down and stand up with ease. Low chair: a chair with four short legs that’s good on uneven ground.
