Reinstate Suspended TX License: SR22 & Steps | FAQ
The letters from the attorney for the other party show the outstanding balance of $7,944, and it seems that upon payment, they will issue a release, which is critical for reinstating your driving privileges. You mentioned that the Texas DPS website indicates options involving an SR-22 form, which is essentially a certificate of financial responsibility. This requirement may still apply even after 20 years, as it's designed to ensure you have adequate insurance moving forward. Since your license has been suspended for an extended period, you may still need to file the SR-22 with Texas DPS, even though this time lapse might feel like it negates that obligation.

r/legaladvice on Reddit: [TX] License suspended for years now, is there anything I can do to get it unsuspended?
March 15, 2023 -

Hello,

Back in 2011 I got in a car accident when I was 17 speeding and crashing into another vehicle. I was issued 2 tickets (fail to control speed, no motor vehicle liability insurance), and did not show up to court. I had received a warrant which has since been paid off, along with any fees on TX license websites. The license eligibility page still shows that I'm not eligible though, and has the information listed below. Is there anything I can do to unsuspend my license? Not sure what most of this means, and it's been over 12 years since the accident.

SR SUSPENSION - LIABILITY JUDGMENT
02/09/2015 - 12/31/9999

  1. SR-22 and notarized Release OR

  2. SR-22 and Court Approved Installment Agreement OR

  3. Copy of Bankruptcy filing OR

  4. Proof of insurance for date of accident and Form SR 13c OR

  5. SR-22 and Evidence of Settlement OR

  6. SR-22 and Judgment Creditor's Consent to Allow License and Registration (Form SR-84) OR

  7. Certification of No Execution on Dormant Judgment (Form SR-88) after ten or more years have elapsed from original date of judgment OR

  8. Apply for an occupational driver license
