This is what I received from Delta;
Thank you for contacting the Delta Faucet company. I will be happy to help you with your inquiry.
The front temperature dial of the Delta Cassidy Valve Trim T17497 model can be removed by grasping the piece on either side of the part and squeezing together gently. Then grasp the small handle and pull the cover off. You can also use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for answers. We appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,

My newer delta shower faucet is already dripping when turned off so I am going to replace the cartridge. When I checked the handle there is no set screw but a small rubber feeling plug that feels spring loaded.
Looking at the delta website, they describe this as a push-fit handle that requires no tools. They have 2 sets of instructions. One says pull straight out from the faucet and the handle will release. The other says align the handle with the spout and pull straight out until the handle releases. They do mention it will take some force when pulling.
I have tried both ways with no luck. I am pulling hard enough that the side of the shower and faucet are flexing out some and still getting no movement from the handle. I'm afraid to pull any harder and cause damage to the faucet.
Is anybody familiar with these that could give me some advice?
Thanks.
Water has started leaking out of my shower handle. You can see it here in this picture. I would like to replace the cartridge but I can't get the handle off. https://i.imgur.com/Icq2PCx.jpeg
I removed the skinny portion of the lever and found the set screw behind it. This diagram appears to be my shower handle or one very similar. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/42489RevB.pdf
After I removed the set screw I cannot slide the rest of the handle assembly off. I've tried rocking side to side and up and down. Is there a step I'm missing or do I need to spray it with PB blaster and wait?

Just getting the screw off was a pain in the ass. I've spent an hour trying to pull the handle out and it won't budge. I feel like if I exert any more force the wall will fall off. Any tips?
Edit: I already took out the hex screw, but the handle still won't come off.
I have a stuck shower handle… I managed to get the hex screw out already with a rubber mallet and a heat gun… but the faucet is stuck. I’d rather not take a hacksaw to it… are there any tricks to getting it loose? Faceplate says Delta Monnor.
