On the sleeve between the trim plate and the handle there is a small hole, spin that until it lines up with the direction the handle is pointing. There is an allen screw on the handle you can get to like that. Once the handle is off, slide out the sleevr and it should have 2 tabs that fit into a locking nut/ring on the center of the cover plate, use that to unscrew it. The rest is self explanatory. I’m trying to get the handle off this faucet so that I can ID the valve and pressure balancing unit and order its replacement.
I looked on the Kohler website and it told me to turn the handle + bonnet counterclockwise. Well, I just turned the handle... now thats loose and possibly broken (a mistake).
Then, I got a rubber strap wrench and turned the bonnet counterclockwise. it moved a little and water turned on. So I might’ve damaged that too.
I was able to move it back to the middle and I’m pretty confident everything is off and will remain dry for now.
How do I get this bonnet/ handle off ? I looked for set screws but didn’t see any.
Do I need to order a new bonnet/handle also?
Any general advice is welcome.

Unfamiliar w that one. The handle has to come off, look at the end of it for a cover; or possibly a screw/allen in the end of handle. I hope that fixture has its own shut offs......

Basic developer grade shower handle and need to remove it to get access to the valve. I have 2 showers with these and they both have a separate issue. One is not gripping the valve anymore and the other is giving hot enough water anymore. I have a bathroom renovation happening in a couple of months and hoping I can temporarily fix one of these until then.
