Answer: I just put one in , there is a set screw on the knob with a hex head . Take that out , there is corrosion it will be tight . Once out tap with a mallet work it back and forth until it comes off the stud . Might take a little muscle .

Usually the threads just get corroded and need a little persuasion. With the dome cap off, the ball and rubber seats-and-springs will come out. I use a small screwdriver or icepick to get the seats-and-springs out.
