The idiomatic Python here is probably to use a list comprehension:
row = [ x.replace('\'', "\\'") for x in row ]

Python Pandas Data Mapping and Replacement Guide | by Gen. Devin DL. | Medium
March 27, 2025 - When working with data, it is often necessary to perform conditional replacements and mapping operations, such as replacing specific values with more meaningful labels or grouping and transforming data based on certain conditions. Python’s Pandas library provides powerful tools for these tasks, with the map and replace methods being two of the most commonly used functions.

pandas.DataFrame.replace — pandas 3.0.6 documentation
Map values of Series according to an input mapping or function. ... Simple string replacement. ... Regex substitution is performed under the hood with re.sub. The rules for substitution for re.sub are the same. Regular expressions will only substitute on strings, meaning you cannot provide, for example, a regular expression matching floating point numbers and expect the columns in your frame that have a numeric dtype to be matched.

I don't know if i correctly understand your question, but you can map the dict values across the columns as follows..
Example DataFrame:
>>> df
A B C D
0 no no no yes
1 yes yes yes no
2 yes no yes no
3 no yes no yes
Result:
>>> for col in 'ABCD':
df[col] = df[col].map({'yes':True, 'no':False})
>>> df
A B C D
0 False False False True
1 True True True False
2 True False True False
3 False True False True

Map function can only be used to process single value(not a list). You can split the list into different columns and use map to replace values. Then you can integrate all the columns together to achieve replacement.

How To Replace Your Python For Loops with Map, Filter, and Reduce - Learning Actors
December 23, 2019 - One key difference between arrow functions and lambda expressions is that arrow functions are able to expand into full-blown functions with multiple statements while lambda expressions are limited to a single expression that is returned. Thus, when using map(), filter(), or reduce() if you need to perform multiple operations on each item, define your function first then include it. def inefficientSquare(number): result = number * number return resultmap(inefficientSquare, my_list) All right, on to the good stuff. Here are three examples of common for loops that will be replaced by map, filter, and reduce.
