On amazon.ca, go to 'Your Account'
Go to 'Digital Services & Device Support'
At the bottom, find 'Start a Chat Now' and click the 'Contact us' button
You have to go through the automated options first. 'Managing my payment, Prime, or account' > 'Update or cancel Prime' > 'Cancel Prime' > 'I need more help' > 'Chat with an associate now'
Now you are talking to a real person. I said that I want to end my Prime membership and be refuned the prorated amount for the remaining months.
They said I could not be refunded because I used the benefits
I said I was not satisfied with the benefits
They said 'ok one moment' Then refunded me about $40 as a one time exception for the remaining 5 months
Anyone in Canada that is having to deal with a return order via Amazon Prime, I HIGHLY suggest you go through the route of using your local STAPLES business to drop off your package for return as an option for receiving your refund. Otherwise it just adds to the inconvenience.
I have used Intelcom, Canada Post, and Staples in a few items I have had to return over the last few months, and Staples has by far been the most convenient way for not only dropping off a package (If you live local), but also if you do not have any additional funds to cover a replacement of the item your trying to return.
Here is my experience with the 3 options for Amazon returns in Canada:
All items were in the 80-95 dollar range, so I cannot speak for orders over 100 dollars.
Intelcom - sends a driver to pick-up your package at a random time of the day (they text you ahead of time, but they have no idea when they will arrive as they mention it, so you have to remain home for the pickup. Order is updated almost instant on amazon and your return/refund is processed within a couple hours from my experience of the driver picking up which is not a bad thing imo.
Canada Post - you bring the package to them. If you do not have a shipping box for the item, tough luck. They will make you buy a bubble/box to package the return, so you are already out of pocket $3 and some change. They give you a tracking number, and you wait and pray that the lady/man scanned the package in after giving you the tracking number of your order (since it was auto generated when amazon created the shipping return, as you selected Canada Post method) Order is updated when Amazon RECEIVES the item at its return location as per policy (but when you check the return status on amazon when using this route, your return should process when you drop your item off at Canada Post)
The issue and frustration with this option for return, is Amazon shows no status update of me dropping an item off at Canada Post, but I can check the tracking of my item showing it has been accepted at the post office, so you have to wait until the item arrives at the return facility to even initiate the return portion. PAIN IN THE ARS!!! I have attached a screen shot below to reflect the struggle I am experiencing using Canada post, it has NOT updated but the package has been dropped off with a tracking number.
Staples - You bring the package to them. You provide a QR code that they conveniently scan. If you do not have a shipping box, they will provide you one at no cost, and tape up the package for you and within 30 seconds, you are on your way. I just so happened to check the status order of my return when walking out the door of Staples, and my return was already processing. I woke up 12 hours later and the funds were already in my bank account.
This was my best experience for an Amazon return is using Staples. But hey, thats just me
Too-Phat
I ordered a used sound bar from a third party seller on Amazon. It never arrived and the tracking number is for a package that arrived in a different state a week before my order was even placed. Should have listened to my gut on that one, even used, the price seemed suspiciously good. Now the track shipment part of the order page seats reads "We're sorry for the additional delay. If you prefer not to wait for this package, you can request a refund." However, when I go to customer service my options are: view return label or instructions, check return or refund status, and cancel return. Which is fishy since I never requested a return. What should I do here? Cancel the return and try requesting a refund?
