What to put on resume if I have no job experience?
GPA (if high enough - can be cumulative or only your major) Academic achievement(s) (ex: Dean's List) Relevant coursework Volunteer work Personal projects Odd jobs (ex: babysitter, dog walker, caretaker, lawn mower) Extracurricular activities (ex: club relevant to your major, or one where you held a leadership position) Certifications Skills (coding is very general and Microsoft Office is very common - be specific and stand out) I would strongly consider getting any job or volunteer somewhere so you can at least put something down on your resume as experience. Even an irrelevant job can have value if you speak to your accomplishments and strengths while in that job, and tailor it to a certain position you're applying for. It can also show employers that you're employable, since you're never held a job before. It's easier to get a job when you already have one. Do some research on Google - There are a lot of articles on this and resume templates for college students. Also check out r/resumes . Put something together, make an anonymous version, and post to get critiqued. More on reddit.com

Clubs. Activities. Sports. Then go into skills that you have… Microsoft word, basic web design, beginning Spanish fluency. Then talk about any advances classes you may have take. AP Calculus. If it’s still empty… you need to create the content by starting to DO something. Maybe start volunteering or cutting grass in the neighborhood. Or Get a job scooping ice cream for minimum wage, or anything to start actually creating content for your resume. If available, go talk to your guidance counselor.

When I did my social work diploma and we had to build résumés for our placements, our professors told us that if we do not have any job experience, to focus on education -- to place an emphasis on what degree you're getting, what "specialized" classes you're taking, and what skills you are obtaining in those particular classes that are valuable to the workplace. This shows them that you can put your education to use. This also goes for if you have work experience, but not "professional" experience -- for example, my first two jobs were at McDonalds and Walmart, so while they did provide valuable experience, they were not professional jobs. So my professors suggested at that time that I emphasize my education on my résumé, and add the employment history as an afterthought to add to my education. However, you can absolutely still include skills that you may have that are unrelated to your classes/education, but only include them if they are valuable to the particular job/internship you're applying for. Another thing we were taught was to have different résumés for different jobs, so like, don't include Office or coding if the job you're applying for won't involve using a computer -- that will seen irrelevant. For example, you'll see that my McDonalds and Walmart jobs are not on my CV ( page one , page two ) because they're irrelevant. If you have any volunteer experience, figure out how to make it look professional or valuable, and emphasize that too -- as an example, here's the résumé I wrote for my sister, in which I included a volunteer experience section that she never thought to because she didn't think any of these things were important. She has some work experience, but notice that education came first, and classes are listed.
