Use your screwdriver and screws to reattach your seat to the frame. If you can’t access the holes due to fabric being in the way, you can carefully cut little notches to expose the screw holes. Yay! How exciting! You just reupholstered a dining chair seat!

WE USE NATURAL JUTE WEBBING IN OUR UPHOLSTERY BECAUSE IT HOLDS ITs SHAPE FOR MUCH LONGER THAN PLASTIC. When reupholstering we remove and discard the existing webbing and padding to the bare wood frame.

August 21, 2025 - We always number each chair with a matching number on the seat so we can pair them back up again when reassembling. If you don’t do this, you may find that they don’t fit back with the original screw holes so this step makes your reupholstering experience easier.

January 7, 2025 - I particularly love shower curtains and outdoor table cloths for upholstering dining chairs. They’re typically a nice thick fabric and they hold up really well to moisture and frequent cleaning. One shower curtain or tablecloth usually has enough fabric to reupholster an entire set of 4-6 chairs and I can usually find great choices for cheap at stores like HomeGoods and TJMaxx.
