I put this in a friend's rental. I liked working with it. It went together well. Looked good. Went back a few months later for a repair on the steps & still looked good. No complaints on my end Answer from boots311 on reddit.com

Would Costco be a good place to buy flooring and installation as a package with warranties? Why is Costco not good or the best place for flooring, and workmanship contractors? - Quora
Answer (1 of 9): I worked as a flooring g specialist at the HD, with that said, Costco does sell good products but I would worry about installation since they subcontract the work. Of course the HD does too but they are also in the home business so they understand better when problem arise. What ...

Those installers tend to be ones that don't have enough clientele to stay busy as an independent business which infers just starting out or not enough repeat customers due to installation quality issues. Buying from a dedicated business with their own installation team and thus reputation to protect, doesn't always ensure quality either but I think the odds are much better. Most flooring stores do not employ installers directly, they are subcontracted.

r/Costco on Reddit: Costco flooring experiences?
November 8, 2018 -

I have an appointment scheduled today with the Costco Shaw flooring rep. I am looking to have the master & one bedroom recarpeted & possibly the stairs.

What has everyone's experience been? I honestly didn't think I was going to have the floors re-carpeted so soon, but after spending some time in my new home & seeing just how dirty the previous owners were, I think it;'s probably in my best interest to have this done sooner rather than later.

I'm interested in how folks found the price to be, the installation experience, and everything overall. Costco is now offering a 10% cash card so it seems like a good time on top of the filth ;). I haven't shopped this yet & am not sure I am going to spend the time doing so but maybe quick compare online against Lowes & Home Depot.

I was just about to pay for a company that is a subcontractor for Costco to come and put in Shaw Wood Laminate flooring throughout my house when I decided I better look through some reviews. Everything I can find says these floors are a horrible nightmare! :( Now what?

Anyone use Costco Shaw Flooring? | Timeshare Users Group Online Owner Forums
My aunt owns a carpet/flooring business in Rawlins, WY, and they highly recommended Shaw carpet to us for our remodel of the townhouse. They also recommended Shaw for our current house kitchen floors. Too bad they won't install for us. ... I also purchased through Costco and received the 15% gift card which was great.

Is Costco's Laminate Flooring A Good Buy? Here's What We Know Based On Reviews - House Digest
September 30, 2024 - One particularly negative review mentioned a common laminate flooring issue, saying, "Mohawk will not accept our warranty claim after the floor swelled after getting wet. Costco also said they won't take it back unless we tear it up and bring it back to the store.

r/Costco on Reddit: Costco (Shaw) flooring install nightmare
September 2, 2023 -

I posted this as a comment somewhere else here but decided to start it as a topic and looking for advice.

So last May/June, we decided to go with Costco to redo our whole first floor in lvp. The quote wasn’t too bad and we got back a hefty amount of money as shopper cards so we were initially very pleased. That said, the contractor Costco hired for our job did a terrible job and we are still dealing with them over a year after the install. The first red flag was when they started installing, I asked whether they were going to do any floor prep, like leveling out the floor. Without even checking, they basically said no since my house wasn’t super old. Then they ran out of materials and told me it would be a few days before they would get more in. After almost two weeks of radio silence, they miraculously had the materials after I called them and reminded them. Then less then a year later we already had planks coming apart. When I called for labor warranty, the contractor just came back and basically kicked the planks back together, applied some glue, and called it a day. Then even more planks came apart. Same deal. Now we have five planks coming apart, to include one that he previously “fixed.” I am at my wits end and went to talk to some other flooring experts. All said the issues were likely due to not having a flat subfloor, I.e. not doing proper floor prep. If I’m correct, I believe this would also void the warranty, according to Shaws’s website.

This experience has been absolutely horrible! If the contractor says they aren’t going to level out the subfloor and redo the job I’m going to take it up with Costco and Shaw. Does anyone else have any advice? Did anyone else have such a horrible experience?

- I have read mixed reviews about Shaw Carpeting, which is what Costco uses, but I cannot tell how much of these reviews are negative because people are not satisfied with ANY carpet purchase - The Costco carpet probably costs a little bit more than Home Depot/Lowe's, but I didn't really want to shop around enough to find the best deal.

r/HomeImprovement on Reddit: Costco laminate flooring vs other low/mid price options?
July 20, 2015 -

I'm looking to close soon on a house and plan on replacing carpet on the main floor w/ laminate flooring. Vinyl is another option but it sounds like that could be more problems down the road if I don't need really good waterproofing.

Costco is currently running a sale on Harmonics Laminates which ends today. Researching a bit Harmonics is Quick-Step laminate, and supposedly it used to be one of their better products but have since been replaced w/ something lower end.

We're planning on looking in person today, most likely the Savannah Hickory will be most to our liking. Pricing now is $30 for ~20sqft = 1.50/sqft, regularly $40. Pergos are $2-$3/sqft, Lowes "Project Source" which was fairly well rated by Consumer Reports costs only 70cents/sqft. I normally associate Costco products as high quality w/ a decent price, would these products hold up in the same way or am I better off paying more / less?
