Just bought a Revival Rugs wool rug. SMELLS LIKE A DAIRY FARM. It REEKS. We rented a Rug Doctor cleaner to clean it, and it STILL STINKS. I can smell it outside from 5 feet away. Horrible. Unusable. Editing to add that the quality is also horrible. Very sparse loops. Shockingly, the swatch rug was completely different fabrication - tight and tense loops. The rug you actually get when purchased is loose and scraggly and, as mentioned, reeks to high heaven. Unbelievable ripoff scheme. Answer from brucebingley on reddit.com

Hi all! Looking for feedback on Revival washable rugs if anyone has to share?! I have two ruggables, and really no complaints (ok fine, the color fading isn’t ideal), but i’m looking for a softer option for my bedroom. Revival caught my attention and their reviews seem great, but I know better than to not ask reddit. Let me know!!

  • searched the sub and didn’t find much in regards to Revival specifically, sorry if a repeat post!

I've been considering purchasing a Revival rug and have been looking through reviews for some time now. For the most part they are GLOWING. There are a couple of warnings to stay away from high pile wool rugs due to their shedding, but otherwise there really isn't anything too concerning. All I can find are a couple of Reddit threads with said info, blogs recommending it, and then the reviews on the website. There are barely any 1 star or 2 star reviews, and the ones that are present aren't too harsh. It either is that the color was off or the size was slightly off. And even then a lot of them say that they just went with a different Revival rug.

Are critical reviews on Revival rugs being removed? Does anyone have any experience with the rugs?

r/HomeDecorating on Reddit: Revival washable rug is impossible to vacuum
October 28, 2025 -

I recently purchased a Revival polyester washable rug, Mizzle, and was initially really happy. It's very soft, and the pattern is vibrant. But every crumb, hair, or piece of lint sticks to the fibers-- I've tried a robo vac, a standard bagless, a handheld, even a shop vac, and it still always looks like a mess. This is an 8x10 so washing in a machine is not possible and regardless, we should be able to vacuum. I wanted to avoid shedding, but this is not a viable alternative. Of course we are beyond 30 days and it does NOT look unused. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

I’d love to have a beautiful wool rug in my living room, but I have a husky puppy who would absolutely destroy it in under a month. So I’m looking at more practical options- specifically, two washable rugs: Shell from Revival and Summit Plush from RugsUSA.

Both are machine-washable, which I’m hoping will make spot cleaning easier. The Summit Plush is more affordable and thicker, which makes it appealing, but I’ve seen more consistently positive reviews for the Shell rug online.

If you own either of these rugs, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially if you have pets! How do they hold up to fur, dirt, and daily wear?

I am finally replacing my gross carpet with hardwood in the next month. I live in a condo and have downstairs neighbors. I want to be a good neighbor, so I need to pick up a few rugs to muffle sound in high-traffic areas.

I can't afford the super high-end luxury stuff, but I also don't want to get yet another cheap rug from Target. I'm also not interested in Ruggable, despite how ever-present their ads are on my Instagram feed.

Any recommendations out there?

May 1, 2024 -

Looking to quickly replace a rug in my apartment due to what I’m hoping will solve an unwanted odor issue (yay pet ownership) and so I want to get an affordable rug to replace it but all I’m seeing out there are these washable rugs! As a pet owner I do see some value in one of those, however my dog is a golden retriever, so I’m simply going to need to be able to vacuum this thing, and I need one that’s not going to get sucked up by the vacuum.

I’m not having the best luck finding anything on Amazon and I might have one or two options from Target that could work (just don’t love the designs/ they’re super dark and would show a lot of pet hair).

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!

EDIT: to clarify - looking for a dupe because this is a trying-to-keep-this-at-$100-or-less kind of adventure since it’s an emergency replacement rug

EDIT 2: huge news - i think i solved the mystery smell (the dog bed; a much cheaper/easier thing to replace seemed to be the actual culprit), but still would love to know of a cheaper alternative because this rug is pretty old and could use replacing at some point :)

September 29, 2024 -

Hey everyone. I have an 8x10 polyester washable rug from Revival as well as a dog who loves to lounge on it. After removing the couch, I realized just how dirty this rug got in the last few months despite frequent vacuuming 🥴

Does anyone have tips for how to clean this? I’m close to a laundromat with industrial washers, so I was planning to take it there, but I’m wondering if I should spray and wash it first? Should I let it soak? Or does this need to be dry cleaned?

Thanks!

I need to replace my current rug (photo attached) and I’ve been looking at rugs for the last 3 days and i’m going insane. I tend to gravitate towards white/ivory rugs but I do have a dog and this is a high traffic area so I’m constantly cleaning and replacing this rug. I’m too scared to try anything bold but I’m hoping to get some more insight and inspiration. Any help or advice is appreciated!

Hey yall, just moved into a new house and would really love to buy a high quality rug (but still affordable) that will last in my bedroom for a long time. I've looked at Ruggable and have been on Overstock. I would like to stick around $300 or less. I know I can't get anything amazing for that price, but just a nice, solid rug will do that isn't too big (5x7 probably)/ I don't want shag or anything super plush either. Any suggestions welcome!

Revival rugs

I am looking to replace the rug my baby comes into contact with most (living room 8 x10)

I am looking at hook and loom flat weave ($400) GOTS certified.

But revival rugs have similar size, organic cotton, patterned ($250) but not GOTS certified so … how do you really know??

It’s driving me nuts. If I get the revival I can afford a natural rug pad but … I don’t want to get just a organic rug that has toxic dyes it would defeat the whole purpose.

Guidance is appreciated :(

Slowly and frugally transitioning my home as my baby has just started crawling.

I purchased the washable stripe rug and am wondering if anyone has this design or similar . Basically I've heard great things about the polyester rugs but my only concern would be the plush part eventually flattening and looking shaggy and worn out. How is your washable rug holding up?

I’ve newly discovered the world of washable rugs only to not find any with good recommendations? I’m not looking for anything fancy, just something that can be thrown in the washing machine and won’t get sucked up by my vacuum. I’d be getting a 5x7 or even 5x6 if I can find it. I’ve seen Ruggable and Tumble Rugs but seem to only be seeing the bad reviews. I see that Amazon has some but again, more bad reviews than good. So I’m hopeful that Reddit can help me narrow down at least where I should buy one.

r/moderatelygranolamoms on Reddit: Washable non-toxic rug that a toddler can walk on
September 30, 2023 -

I feel like I am looking for the impossible but wondering if anyone has found something that meets all of these criteria:

  1. non-toxic: natural fibers, no flame retardants, no insecticides, natural dyes; but also somewhat interested in a few synthetic brands that seem relatively non-toxic (revival rugs) that seems to meet other criteria would love to hear opinions

  2. washable: could be laundry or just easy stain but we have a senior dog who will pee on this rug; don't mind of washing needs to be done in commercial laundry (from what I understand wool really doesn't do well with dog urine even if washable? is this true?)

  3. walkable for toddler: lorena canals is going to be the rec here I think but we ordered one and it just bunched up and seemed like it could make things hard for my clumsy toddler; I didn't get a rug pad so if there is a particular set up that will promise me a flat rug that is perfect for my toddler let me know

We need a large living room rug. I had been planning to get a cotton one from Hook and Loom for a while. Now I'm second guessing because they are all just so plain. I don't want to hate the look of a massive rug that costs a ton! Then I came across Tumble rugs which are synthetic but check all the buzzword boxes - Oeko-Tex certified, free of PFCs, PFAS, BPA, formaldehyde, phalates, PROp 65 and CPSC compliance, yadda, yadda, yadda....and they are pretty! And affordable!

I think what I'm making this post for is to see if anyone has either of these brands and could give their opinions. Or if you don't, what would be the moderatelygranola approach? I was so set on a natural fiber but I'm tempted by the look of synthetics so I don't know if need to stay strong in my desire to be natural or relax and get something I like 😅

Hey,

I would love to get this Ruggable rug (in the Pantone colour of the year, a light peach). I would get the version for a high traffic area but I was wondering how washable these things actually were. I have an infant and the rug would be near the entrance to the backyard. So lots of potential for grime.

I was just wondering about your experiences. Are they actually really readily washable or should I give up on my pipe dream?

EDIT: You guys are amazing! Thank you so much for your thoughts on the rug and recommendations
