I'm in California where digital license plates like Reviver's RPlates are legal to buy/install.
I have seen a few cars with them and think they look pretty nice. I've been debating whether I want to get one, but I don't think I'm sold on the security of the plate itself just yet. Curious whether anyone here has one and what issues (if any) you've had with them.
I know the price for it is high, but that's not my main concern with it right now.

This process has been a complete nightmare. Let me articulate for you before you make an expensive and challenging purchase decision.
I ordered the plate for a new vehicle on October 19th. Received the plate the following week
My physical plates came in so I could finally install the plate. I set it up in the app and followed the instructions in the packaging
The plate could not connect to LTE to provision the plate. I found a YouTube video and a buried support article about the Bluetooth connectivity (oddly not included in the physical instructions) my plate would not activate Bluetooth whatsoever
I contacted their support in the only way possible, via email on November 17th. They are not only slow to respond, but provided no additional support information that wasn’t available via a deep dive into their help center. I begged for a phone call and none was ever received. I tried 3 various locations (under an LTE tower, ontop of a parking garage, out front of my house) none worked
That night I was pulled over and questioned by the police due to the vehicle due to the malfunctioning license plate.
I informed them immediately of the incident and the issues with the plate. I uninstalled the plate
they ignored me for 7 days…. I tried activating in a second state, in several different areas
they asked for my address to return the plate but stated that they would not refund whatsoever due to the “30 day trial” elapsing even though the support ticket was opened and responded to multiple times by me well before the window closed.
Reviver is a sham, reviver is a scam. I hope you do not purchase. I emailed their CEO with my story and have received no response other than their request for the plate and no offer of any refund. Tbh, I wish the product worked. I wouldn’t have purchased if I did not. Though it is painful that a company that provides an essential piece of compliance offers zero real support and is comfortable with sending out expensive, malfunctioning or degraded products.
Hopefully this post saves you some cash. I also hope new states do not allow the technology until these serious issues are figured out. Seems they only care about YouTube creators and not actual customers….
Hello everyone.
I got a hold of a Reviver E-ink license plate on Ebay and I would like to use it in my next cyberdeck. It is a very sharp looking 11.3" display that I think it would be perfect for a low powered cyberdeck, the problem is that I don't think I can use the driverboard that came with it (as it has no usb inputs except for a charging one) I kind of forced disconnected it anyways, and 'm definitely not up for reverse engineering.
I have no idea how to start, and I wished that I could simply get a cheap display driver to connect it directly to the 50pin display, and power it by a raspberry Pi, but I have no idea what to get either.
According to what my research:
Size: 11.3"
Resolution: 2400×1034, 230PPI
Frequency: 75Hz,
Signal Interface: Parallel Data (2ch, 8-bit) , 50 pins FPC
Input Voltage 1.8/3.3/25/-20V (Typ.)(VDD1/VDD2/VGH/VGL)
I would appreciate it if someone could guide me in the right direction. Here's the specs sheet.
Any ideas?
Casually walking around the dealership and saw the $999 markup for reviver. Took me a while to figure it out before I saw most of the new cars had these plates.
Then walked to the Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti dealerships and saw none of this nonsense.
Anyone actually see any value in these things?
I'm a technology geek, and love being an early adopter of cool stuff. Over the 4th of July holiday, I walked passed a Tesla that had one. Immediately went home and bought one. Its really one of the coolest upgrades I think a car can have. I've applied for a few catchphrases. But with Covid, I'm sure the DMV will take their time to approve them.
I didnt see a Reddit page for them, so I figured I'd start one. If you're looking to get one, use the discount code JASONDOT. Not sure how long it will be good till. But it currently nets 25% off.
I was one of the first to get it in CA. They listed all these promises as in the works:
-They promised carpool status on the frame. (No longer needing 4 huge carpool stickers ruining your paint) -They promised advertising your company after your car was in park for 5 minutes -They had 2 subscription plans, I have the more expensive one that was double the price and includes GPS tracking. They emailed they are removing this feature but I can’t move to the half price plan because they changed all the plans now to much more expensive annual pricing plans. -They are ruining the look of the frames by plastering their brand URL all over it making it look cheap.
After so many years all they have come up with was adding an emoji option. A complete let down.
With the huge price tag, higher subscription fees, ugly forced advertising on the plate itself, features being removed and no new features on the horizon, will this company make it?
Did the price of a Reviver License Plate increase? I am now seeing it listed online for $599 + service plan.
I don’t think it cost this much before.
I want to get a reviver plate but I want it personalized do I need to purchase a personalized license plate from dmv then get a revival plate or could I buy it through reviver? Please help
Picked up a new California Dune R1S today! What an amazing vehicle.
I am transferring a Reviver digital plate from my previous vehicle, but the car did not come with a license plate bracket. There are 4 nylon inserts only.
For anyone who has done this, what did you do?
I was considering a R Plate digital license plate for my new MYLR, but couldn't justify the $860 for 4 years price. Right now they have a 30% off sale until 12/18, which brings the 4 year cost down to $600. Decided to go for it. Anyone considering, now is the time!

Question for law enforcement. When you see a vehicle with a digital license plate such as Reviver brand, what signal does that send to you about the driver?
Does it make the vehicle more or less likely to be pulled over?
Any observations about drivers who own these in general?
Thanks for your thoughts.
