I recently purchased the Revlon One Step from Costco and thought I would share my thoughts for anyone considering it. I have hard to curl, medium length, fine, color treated hair with some grey and some damage at the front.
I’ve been using the One Step for a couple weeks and it’s well made, and lighter than I expected.
The pros
It dries my hair fast. I was pretty amazed at how fast I was able to dry my hair and I only used the low setting.
It finished my hair very smoothly, (esp compared with the Dyson Airwrap) even at the front where my curtain bangs are damaged.
It did give some volume. While not as bouncy as a brush blowout, it didn’t flatten my hair at all.
It’s very comfortable to blowout one handed. I really like being able to blow dry my hair with one arm. It’s quick to section using one hand and grab with the dryer.
The cons
The controls are at the end of the base and you twist for low, cool, and high. For me, it’s too many years of having switches near my fingers and I’m still having a hard time with the controls.
The cool shot is not a button, but a twist of the base. Not a fan of this configuration.
The high setting is just too much for my fine hair. This probably won’t be a problem for thick hair.
I would like a slightly smaller diameter on the brush. I think fine or shorter hair would benefit from it
Overall
It’s a keeper! At a price point of under $40, it’s a good addition. I’ll def use it for days I need a quicker result or want to rest my arms more. I’m aware some people have had concerns with long term use causing damage, so I’ll keep an eye on it. Happy to answer any questions
