RH is a retailer that sells furniture from a lot of different manufacturers. Sometimes they'll have high quality sofas from NC manufacturers for around the same price you would find them anywhere. And they will also have some overpriced trendy furniture that you could find cheaper in a lot of other places. The best way to buy good quality furniture is to buy based on the manufacturer. Not the retailer. This is sort of obvious, since you are actually interested in the quality of the furniture and not who sells it. This is how we buy most manufactured items; you aren't interested in a "dishwasher from Lowe's"; you are interested in a "Bosch dishwasher" (or whatever) - it doesn't really matter if you buy it at Lowe's or HD or BestBuy. RH and Crate and Barrel and R&B like to obscure the names of manufacturers because they want you to go to RH to look for a sofa; they don't want you to look for Bradington-Young sofas and comparison shop. I had the RH Moderna Track Arm sofa from Restoration hardware and these are my thoughts: The foam is stiff, not cushy, great for perching or standing to use, but awful for long sits because I can never get comfortable. This couch is LOW: you sit with your feet on the floor and your knees higher than your thighs. Thanks to the extra-deep seat (and I’m not a small person), if you sit all the way back your knees don’t even bend to the floor; scooch forward so your feet touch down and you’re either crossing your legs on the floor or looking like you’re crouching. It’s hard to convey in text, but no one I’ve had over likes it. Because of the ultra-low profile, older folks have a tough time getting up—you basically have to ROLL OVER and HOIST YOURSELF OFF THE COUCH; you can’t just stand like you would from a normal sofa. The seat is roughly shin-height, below my kneecap. In my opinion, the low profile is the worst part. “Just buy risers!” you might say—and you’d be right, except the legs are HUGE, and I haven’t found risers that fit; I’d guess they’re about 6x6".
