What an amazing theatre and production! Seeing it live was amazing and I love that this is a smaller venue. It didn't seem like there was a bad seat in the house (although others have said the balcony seats are quite small) Our orchestra row R seats were perfect. ... This was a trip of a lifetime. October 28, 2021 - The Rodgers opened, as Chanin’s 46th Street, in 1925. Designed by Herbert J. Krapp for producers Irwin and Henry Chanin, the theatre’s innovative, sloped orchestra level offers excellent views of the stage. In 1931 the theatre became known simply as the 46th Street.

This theatre has been a house of hits, hosting a long line of famed musicals including Anything Goes, Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Nine, Chicago, and Movin' Out. The theatre was refurbished in 2006 and houses The Richard Rodgers Gallery featuring historic memorabilia from its namesake's storied career.

Chanin almost immediately leased it to the Shuberts, who bought the building outright in 1931 and renamed it the 46th Street Theatre. In 1982, it was purchased and renovated by the Nederlander Organization, who in 1990 changed the name to the Richard Rodgers Theatre in memory of the composer Richard Rodgers.
