I'm sure this has been a thread somewhere, but couldn't find it.

I had a pair of high waisted black ones a few years ago, but they faded SO fast into a not-close-to-black color (ok, close-ish, but still).

I know almost everywhere has some variation of high waist black skinnies, but my regular go-tos (Gap and Luckybrand) are pricing me out at the moment -- I'm trying to keep it under $30. OK, Lucky I would pay a bit more, but I've been so spoiled by all the crazy sales at both places. (I'm looking at you, new $13 jeans from Gap).

I haven't had much luck at thrift stores (also as it's such a staple and I want to keep them dark as long as possible, I'm not sure 2nd hand is where I'll win).

Would love to hear about all of your faves! Even if they are more than my budget, it's nice to know:) For science.

Edit to add a PSA: When researching Madewell, I discovered they have a student and teacher 15% discount. Combined with the recycled denim program, not bad!

2nd Edit to add: Looks like Gap now does have super high waist for $25 (free shipping).

3rd Edit: ARGHHHH the ones from Gap have an obsessive love-affair with all things lint. My cat has long white hair. They look awful.
