EDIT: it's out now on ASUS support site
EDIT²: The beta is now the latest OFFICIAL BIOS
I'm posting this in case anyone else comes across the same problems, hopefully this may save them some time.
I recently updated my motherboard bios to the latest available (version 4402) to get rid of the 'core isolation' warning windows security was giving me for the past year or two. After booting it up, it would freeze on boot, with a qcode of either error 98, Ad, or A0 (seemingly random, but one of those three). After a power cycle or two, it would boot up and work properly. I tried a variety of things, such as removing all USB devices (including case connectors), changing power/quick boot/shutdown settings, updating all other asus drivers, graphics card drivers, and other bios settings, but nothing helped. The computer still worked, it would just require 1-3 extra attempts in the morning to get it to boot properly.
I downgraded to bios version 3702, and instantly all the weirdness went away.
This is with a Ryzen 7 3700X and Nvidia GTX 1660 Super.
I have the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI)
I couldn't find anything about this on Google but since bios 4501 and not fixed in 4601 the command to reboot into UEFI bios
"C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe" /r /fw /t 0
has stopped working with the error "The system could not find the environment option that was entered.(203)".
UEFI Firmware settings is also missing in Recovery mode.
Rolling back to bios 4402 restores the correct working of the /fw switch.
All other shutdown.exe arguments seem to work okay.
Does anyone have a similar experience or a solution.
A shortcut is much easier than Del on restart as I have a bluetooth keyboard that doesnt work outside the OS.
Crosshair Dark Hero VIII and 5950x build running without a crash for all of 2023. After upgrading from BIOS 4602 to BIOS 4702 the BSOD's immediately started. Page fault in nonpaged area, IRQ less than equal, among 4-5 other causes. On average there's a crash every few hours.
Just some of the things tried:
Rolling back BIOS
Load optimized defaults
Fresh W10 install
remove all unnecessary devices and hardware
different cables, reseat CPU
This is classic faulty Ryzen 5000 behavior, except the thing was running well for years before this specific BIOS upgrade. I'm over Asus, all the grumblers these past years were right.
