That means the RAM will not run at 3600 using DOCP. So you will need to clear the CMOS like this: Unplug the PC (PSU). Then press the Power Button for at least 30 seconds. Use a flat headed screwdriver to short the CLR CMOS (CLRTC) Jumper (Touch both jumper pins with the screwdriver) for at least 15 seconds. CLRTC jumper location can be seen on page 1-2 here: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_B450_F_GAMING/E14401_ROG_STRIX_B450-F_GAMING_UM_WEB.pdf Plug the PC back in. Press the Power Button to turn the PC on. Repeatedly tap the DEL key A screen should come up telling you to press the F1 key, do that. Set the Optimized Default settings and Press OK (this is on the EXIT tab) Save and exit the BIOS. Tap the DEL key again to enter the BIOS and change any settings you want changed then save and exit again. Once it boots properly again try setting the DOCP profile BUT then set the DRAM Frequency to 2933 and see if that boots. If it does then set the DRAM Frequency to 3200 and see if that boots. Then try 3400, then 3466 and use whatever speed is highest and also boots. Answer from DMAN999 on forums.tomshardware.com

"Best" Way for RAM Upgrade from 16GB to 32GB on ROG Strix b450f Gaming I with Ryzen 5 3600x
First and foremost.. 4000MHz vs 3200MHz will not make such a big difference. The sweetspot for DDR4 is 3600MHz. More importantly, the Ryzen 5 3600x can only support RAM up to 3200MHz, so 4000MHz is futile, as it will only go up to 3200MHz. So no, no reason to buy 4000MHz. Yes, you have to buy the exactly same memory, latency and frequency RAM modules so you just need to buy 2 more (2x8GB) as the ones you have - CMW16GD4M3200C16W4. IDENTICAL. Yes, same latency and frequency are a must, otherwise you won't have dual/quad channel. No, younprocesaor cannot handle more than 3200 so there is no reason to go higher anyway. More on reddit.com

r/ASUSROG on Reddit: "Best" Way for RAM Upgrade from 16GB to 32GB on ROG Strix b450f Gaming I with Ryzen 5 3600x
August 10, 2023 -

Hello,

I would like to increase my RAM from 16GB to 32GB and maybe upgrade it to faster RAM if that makes sense with my system (RX6900XT, Ryzen 5 3600x)My invoice of the PC sais "2x 8 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-3200" and in HWInfo64 I can see it is 2 x 8GB "pc4-25600 ddr4 sdram corsair CMWX8GD3200C16W4". In the BIOS of the mainboard (ROG Strix b450f Gaming I) the "AI Overclock Tuner" is set to "D.O.C.P. Standard DDR4-3200 16-18-18-36-1.3 5V".

I understand that the "ROG Strix b450f Gaming I" supports "RAM up to 4400MHz [OC]" from https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b450-f-gaming-model/

  1. Would the following be a good choice to buy to replace my current 8GB 3200Mhz RAM with 32GB 4000Mhz RAM? I read somewhere that the ones I link have bad timings. What timings should I look for? https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0957WH8Q7/?th=1

  2. If I would want to keep my current RAM and just add 2 more 8 GB modules I would have to pretty much buy 2x 8 GB "pc4-25600 ddr4 sdram corsair CMWX8GD3200C16W4" is that right? I understand that, if I would add 2 8GB modules with e.g. 3600Mhz to banks A1+B1, they would only work with the 3200MHz of my current RAM that are in banks A2+B2 is that correct?

  3. When adding 2 modules to A1+B1, do they need to have the same CL as the modules from A2+B2?

  4. ...does somebody have a quick Amazon link to compatible RAM with 2x 16GB between 3600MHz and 4(4)00Mhz with "good timings" that are up to around 100 Euro? If I can make a decision within the next 2 hours they might be delivered tommorrow =)

thank you very much

love p3ppi

P.S.: Is there a possibility that i can overclock my current RAM to 3400 MHz or should I not even try? Can I see that from like the technical details of my RAM in HWInfo?

I have read on several places where people say that their B450-F motherboard are able to run their ram chip up to 3600Mhz. Is this true or not true? I have Ryzen 7 3700X CPU. If true, then how? I also checked the QVL list for 3rd gen CPU such as Ryzen 7 3700X CPU. I tried to find my ram chip serialnumber. It is CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18 . And the QVL list says that it supports 3600mhz speed. Or am I wrong? This is the ram chip I have -> https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/Vengeance-PRO-RGB-Black/p/CMW16GX4M2Z3600C18. I have tried to change the speed in the BIOS. Only able to run 3200Mhz. Above that my PC wont boot up. Thanks for help!

r/buildapc on Reddit: What RAM can I use with the ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II ?
April 3, 2025 -

I am running 16GB of RAM at 3600Mhz on my machine. Because on games like Reforger I get hitching on higher texture settings, my idea was to increase the amount of RAM available, especially because 32GB RAM is, as far as I know, a good standard at the time.

Surprisingly, it seems to be difficult to find compatible RAM which would not also run at significantly lower frequency.

My system:

  • ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II

  • XFX 7900 XT

  • Ryzen 7 5800X3D

  • Corsair RM850x 80 PLUS Gold PSU

In order to find compatible RAM, I was using the support list from the mainboard's support page:

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_B450-E_GAMING/Memory_QVL_3rd_Gen_AMD_Ryzen_Processors.pdf?model=ROG%20STRIX%20B450-F%20GAMING%20II

There is only a few modules listed that run at 3600Hz or higher and offer 32GB:

  • CORSAIR CMW32GX4M4K4000C19

  • G.SKILL F4-3600C17Q-32GTZR

  • HyperX HX436C17PB3K4/32

None of these are available in my area (some are listed at about 400€ per kit, but even those are unavailable), so I am left wondering, can I upgrade at all? How can I know what kits could work with my mainboard-CPU-combination?

I tested a 2x16GB kit: G.Skill DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3600 (2x 16 GB) Dual-Kit which resulted in system instability when trying to run it at 3600MHz XMP enabled. What RAM would work at 3600MHz? How can I know?

Long term I aim to switch to AM5 and a 9800X3D, but because such an upgrade would also require a CPU upgrade and I am currently still very happy with the 5800X3D on AM4, this is not something I wanted to do at the moment.

Thanks for any advice.

r/pchelp on Reddit: ASUS RoG Strix B450f Gaming AMD R7 2700x can I get 128GB RAM?
October 31, 2022 -

I have an Asus Rog Strix B450F gaming MB and an AMD R7 2700x CPU, I am getting conflicting information. Some sources say it will support up to 128GB ram at DDR4 3200, but the QVL only lists support up to 64GB DDR4 2666. I am working with really large 3d files and my system hangs and locks up once the files get over 1gb in size so I am hoping that a memory upgrade will help this. Currently only have 16gb.
