Hi I'm new to the forum, I will soon get the ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard that I will use with a Ryzen 7 5800x.
I will have to update the BIOS via the flash button on the back of the motherboard and so far ok, I know how.
2 questions:
- Can I run the BIOS update without CPU via flash button by connecting the motherboard ONLY to the 24 pin cable of the power supply? (i.e. just connect that power source to update the BIOS or do I have to connect the 4 + 4 pin CPU cable too?), this is because I would like to run the BIOS update before mounting the motherboard in the case. Thanks
- Is the penultimate version available 3001 dated 08/12/2020 ok for ryzen 5000?
You have to connect CPU power 8-pin also (at least that's what MSI wants you to do). These instructions should be on Asus' website, and video tutorials on YouTube. As far as which BIOS supports 5000-series, you just have to read the update notes for each BIOS. Or head over to Asus' sub or their forum. You would have gotten more answers on an Asus forum instead of here. Good luck.

Did you try to Bios Flashback the original release bios or the updated? Try the original. Also there is already 4 bioses released for that board... Hopefully at least one of them works.

This morning I recieved my Ryzen 9 3900x along with an Asus ROG Strix X570 F Gaming. I put it all together booted up for the first time loaded my ram settings and checked everything was detected, which it was. I then decided that seeing as this is a new platform I should update the BIOS. I did this through the motherboards utility which downloads the bios from the Internet and Installs it automatically. I came back to my pc and there was just a black screen. So I left it for about an hour before attempting to reboot. This resulted in a blank screen. I then put the bios onto a USB driver abd followed the instructions for USB bios flashback. However this has also failed. I've reset the CMOS to no avail. I've contacted Asus support but thought I'd ask on here too as I'd probably get a quicker response.

Apologies for formatting, grammar, sentence structure etc I'm posting from my phone as my pc isn't working, obviously.
