r/macapps on Reddit: Best free RSS reader?
May 12, 2024 -

What is the best free RSS feed app that feels and looks native, has a great set of features (AI?), and is compatible on both iOS and macOS?

Additionally, are there any such apps that give suggestions for similar feeds? I want to give up using Reddit, for example, but sometimes, I find a useful subreddit that I wouldn't otherwise find if I were just getting feeds from subs I am already in. Is there any solution for that?

October 25, 2022 - I have used Vienna for may years, and love the guys behind it, but the last year I have used NetNewsWire instead. It has much more active development, more modern interface, support for Reddit and Twitter, and there is both iOS and Mac apps. Highly recommended. That being said, if RSS is your only thing, and you only want a Mac client, Vienna will get you there also.

Because you don't read all the items, you're browsing and picking the interesting ones. | Organization/sorting features lacking: There is no ability to sort feeds within a folder, and moving feeds between folders is difficult with lots of content. | Steals page views: Feedly has had issues multiple times with hijacking page views from original publishers. See: · - Feedly WAS (is) Hijacking Shared Links And Cutting Out Original Publishers · - Feedly Found a New Way to Steal Page Views From Publishers | No push notifications: Among the most requested features for Feedly is push notification support.
