So I recently got a few quotes and design layouts from local cabinet shops and have wanted to explore the option of DIY cabinet replacement.
If you search RTA cabinets on Google it seems there are dozens of options that all look reputable and many of them appear at least on the surface to be high quality. I know IKEA seems to be the popular recommendation here but there are companies out there that seem to be better build quality with added bonus of being local cabinet makers just shipping out their product.
The issue I'm having a bit of choice paralysis, I can't seem to find a site where I can get unbiased reviews on these places, so I'd like some feedback from people that have went with a specific company and what they thought.
Interested in opinions on the build quality, ease of installation, and functionality of features like soft close or other cabinet options.

Beyond the pricing, which Ikea is usually cheaper on, the installation for ikea cabinets is a lot easier for the majority of people. Instead of leveling the cabinets to the floor, you level a hanging bracket on the wall and work down. This approach means you only have to level a piece of metal on the wall from the high point of the floor versus shimming and leveling each cabinet from the bottom up. I think most people's concerns about the integrity of the ikea cabinets to water damage is a little too overblown for most scenarios.

Someone recommended Kitchen Cabinet Kings to me. Bases seem a level above Ikea. I did want slab drawer/door fronts which they don’t sell. Looking for other recommendations.

Anyone have some recent good experiences with quality RTA cabinets?
If you're going for RTA, most people here would recommend Conestoga (Cabinet Joint, Cabinet Authority) or Lily Ann I think. BWC seems to be going for a cheaper approach of what J&K Cabinetry does, where you get a limited selection of options but cheaper, and I cannot find any real specs on these outside of the generic "1/2" plywood and soft close" kind of things, or information about where they are made. Edit: I just looked through the catalogs and I'm starting to think these people are actually selling J&K RTA as middlemen, in which case I think they're nice. The similarities between the J&K catalog and the BWC catalog are uncanny. More on reddit.com

We've got a family friend contractor, and he only uses RTA cabinets. He can't recommend them enough. When we do our kitchen, we'll be going that route. More on reddit.com
