rugsource.com SO great. (FYI, it is always "with 60% discount" and then anywhere from an additional 20-30% off depending on the day/holiday). Unbeatable for large 100% wool hand-knotted rugs, and they're delivered in 2-3 days with free returns. I won't get a large wool rug anywhere else again. Answer from readweed88 on reddit.com

What brands or stores or website to get the best quality rugs? I assume wool and/ or a wool cotton blend would be good materials to look for? How is RugsUSA? Also looking at Serena & Lilly. Ideally not looking to spend a fortune but willing to pay for better quality!

The vast majority of rugs should indeed be BIFL provided you take decent care of it and buy a quality rug from the start. There are several distributors online who sell really ratty, low quality rugs at prices believed to be too good to be true, and while the rug will last years and years and years… you’re better off shelling a few hundred more and getting something of higher quality made with better yarns, fibers, updated machines or tools, and better trade/labor practices. Websites off the top of my head that I would include in this low tier: nearly everything off Amazon and Target and Wayfair, RugsUSA, a good majority of Etsy sellers. There are some good Etsy rug sellers, but be wary and do your research. RugsUSA, in my opinion, peddles cheap crap, uses deceptive photos, and the return process is a pain in the ass. Avoid Ruggable… excessively overpriced. In the tier above that would be west elm, crate and barrel. I really do think IKEA has decent rugs if you’re willing to splurge beyond the basics. Serena and Lilly looks decent. I’ve had great pleasure shopping on Revival. I think they have a good mix of new pieces and vintage one of a kind. Try them out for sure. Rug trade is one of the oldest professions in the modern world. If you live in a major city, take the time to explore the area for great rug stores, traders, and vendors. They’ll have some amazing pieces that truly will last a lifetime. One last thing is to narrow down where the rug is going to go and what yarns or fibers it should contain. Natural fibers will feel better under your feet, but avoid linen and especially jute if it’s an indoor rug. Cannot stress enough to avoid any and all jute, hell I’d recommend avoiding it even for outdoor too. Feels like garbage. Synthetic fiber rugs with polypropylene or polyester will be at significantly cheaper price points, but IMO not that great of a rug.

Check out estate sales, Facebook marketplace, eBay, vintage shops. Brand new hand knotted 100% wool rugs are very expensive. I’ve found great rugs second hand and if they are wool a good rug cleaner can make them like new.

I’m curious where you all have gotten your area rugs? I would love something that’s easily washable because boy, do we have some spillers in my house haha. But whenever I read about the washable rugs it just doesn’t make sense to me, because how are you fitting that in your washer?!!

I love the area rug we have right now but she is stained so much. I’m also looking into renting a steamer for it, in hopes that it extends its life.

Edit: location is Oregon, budget it open if the rug is right.

I haven't had much luck looking for large rugs on FB and eBay - even gave the old Craigslist a try.

Not looking for artisanal level Persian rug quality but struggling to find decent ones that aren't overly expensive.

Where is a good place to find decent large rugs these days?

Edit: Thank you everyone! We ended up ordering a couple of rugs from Bed bath and beyond / Overstock.

July 16, 2022 - My favorite is to go find a rug I love in person at Homegoods, take a picture of the manufacturer tag underneath and then go crazy on google. Sometimes Homegoods has a great style, but maybe it’s not the right colors or size.

Hi. So I ordered a rug on wayfair Canada from a sale they were having. Got an email saying the original shipment was damaged and another rug is on the way tbd on 29 April. To cut a long story short the rug hasn’t arrived yet even though it’s been 15 days.

I called and cancelled my order because they said they hadn’t sent the replacement rug. The email was about confirmation of beginning process for replacement(?)

I gave away furniture which was making the area cluttered to make it more aesthetic for the new rug. Also bought floor pillows

Now I have a huge empty space in my living room that’s making me sad af. Please give me recs for rugs.

Budget:$250 max Area: 8’ x 9’ No secondhand rugs please

I put a 2000$ nice thick wool rug in my living room (I paid 600 on facebook marketplace). It's SO much nicer than the thin rugs people love to buy at walmart or homegoods. Some things do actually pay to go nicer on.

Wooden furniture and rugs are not a place to buy the cheapo versions

I’ve newly discovered the world of washable rugs only to not find any with good recommendations? I’m not looking for anything fancy, just something that can be thrown in the washing machine and won’t get sucked up by my vacuum. I’d be getting a 5x7 or even 5x6 if I can find it. I’ve seen Ruggable and Tumble Rugs but seem to only be seeing the bad reviews. I see that Amazon has some but again, more bad reviews than good. So I’m hopeful that Reddit can help me narrow down at least where I should buy one.
