So I have a asus rog strix x470f mainboard and a ryzen 7 2700x cpu. I planned to upgrade to a ryzen 7 5800x and therefore ordered one. Today I received it. After removing my old cpu from the socket and inserting the new one I noticed that the lever on the side doesnt really grap the cpu. Even worse, i can pull it out with complete ease. I ignored that for a bit and continued to mount the cpu cooler. However, the pc wont even turn on. No sign of life except the lights on the mainboard. Switching back to the old cpu, the lever on the socket grabs and the pc turns back on.
Can someone tell me if a) this is normal that the lever doesnt grab for the newer cpus and b) if I just got a faulty one
