Is there a list of all 3rd gen ryzen cpu?
You may want to double check as pretty much all boards that supported 3rd gen Ryzen can support the Ryzen 5000 series (the final gen for that socket) with a BIOS update. The current list of supported CPUs along with the required minimum BIOS version will be listed on your board's website. But to answer your question in case you were curious, it's all models that start with 3 or 4 excluding models that start with 3 and end in G. I.e. 3000 series and 4000G series but not 3000G series. Can someone explain the Ryzen ecosystem to me?
tl;dr - do some quick googling to learn about the various chips you're interested in. the higher the number theoretically the better performance but there are some more specifics... X3D chips are targeted as single thread/gaming performance chips, with the 7800X3D currently the best gaming CPU by far. a 7950 is better than a 7600 in terms of overall processor performance for a few reasons, those two are in the same 'generation' of chips. the 5800X3D is the previous generation of AMD's dominant gaming chip but its still plenty viable and out-performs other current generation chips in gaming performance. April 28, 2025 - While we’ve only got five major architectures of Ryzen CPUs so far, there are 8 generations in total — 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, and 9000. That’s because AMD sometimes used the same architecture for more than one generation.

r/buildapc on Reddit: Can someone explain the Ryzen ecosystem to me?
August 13, 2024 -

I'm a total outsider to the AMD side of things, and though the Intel fiasco is mostly resolved, I'd find it useful to understand the naming conventions of Ryzen chips.

From what I've observed so far, it appears that the higher numbers in a Ryzen chip do not necessarily denote higher performance? At least based on what people have said. If someone can describe the different series and model numbers and how they relate, it'd help me a ton.
