I promise you after .5 day of using a 1080p screen you won't notice or care. If it bothers you that much then move the phone .5 to 1 inch away from your face. Then you won't be able to see the difference. Most people complain about going from 1440p to 1080p but if they weren't side by side and you weren't pixel peeping you wouldn't notice or care. Definitely get a s23 series phone. Battery life using the 8g2 is so much better than the 888 or the even less battery friendly 8g1. I think the s23 would be a good fit similar screen size, major camera upgrade getting a 3x telephoto and an ultra wide. Or you can get the bigger s23 plus. Better battery than the s23 and larger screen. Samsung makes amazing screens. The screens are bright and color full. You will notice that and the 120hz refresh rate more than the 16ppi difference (exaggerating a bit). I don't really recommend you for the ultra anything. You don't seem like the guy who would benefit from it. If you were worried about camera quality you would of switched phones years ago. And you're not a power user needing the latest chips because again you would of switched phones years ago. The s23 and s23 plus are great fits. I think you should go for the plus IMO. I remember when I was younger and I would brag about my android phones superior screen to my dad who used an iPhone I got this in response, "show me all the extra pixels." I mean I really couldn't of. It's not like it was a 50 inch screen and one was 1080p and one was 4k where you can see a major difference from 5 feet away. There is a point of diminishing returns. 1080p on a 7 inch or less screen is absolutely fine. The s23+ is still 393ppi. A 4k 27 inch monitor is about 163 ppi and everyone is fine with that. Granted you sit further back from that than your phone. But using your phone at a normal distance the difference between 1080p and 1440p is small. More on reddit.com
