Still have the Galaxy S22 in 2023
I don't get the whole "upgrade every year" mindset. Shit's expensive. Use it until it doesn't work for your needs anymore. That goes for everything. I still use my S22+ and there's nothing wrong with it. Truth is, for something like 15 years now, every time I get a new phone, that whole realization after the first day that the new phone doesn't actually do anything different the old one did sets in and makes me question "why?" Literally the only phone I miss owning was the Essential PH-1 because it was a piece of electronic art, felt great in the hand, and the monochrome camera was amazing - the color camera was just mediocre. But even still, what came afterwards and before wasn't a huge difference between devices. More on reddit.com
Why is it that Samsung is discontinuing the S22 after only 3 years?
It was guaranteed 4 major OS updates, that's what it will get. Anyway Samsung has changed their update strategy as Google is releasing android versions earlier, so it will get UI8.5 next year which will be a larger update than UI8 is. More on reddit.com
Exclusive Color S22 Ultra Delivery Date?
I pre-ordered mine on the 9th and it still says the 4th of March unfortunately.

I think theyโre just trying the Google Pixel 6 way. They want more users from Apple and other Android brands, so they will keep the prices lower this time, in my opinion. Iโm interested in the specs, though. More on reddit.com

So far, my s22 is my daily driver. From using google maps, payments, banking and just daily stuff. the battery is still not the best but the phone has been very good so far. i feel like i can use this for another 2 years.
is it the same with you? or you've already gone and upgraded to different smart phone such as S23 or an iPhone.
what are your thoughts....

No problems with my base S22. I seem to be one of the few with good battery life. Phone is fast, takes good pictures and isn't huge. I'm happy. I keep my phones for a few years and I'm on a 3 year contract so I'm stuck with it either way.

It's only been 3 years and Samsung is having One Ui 8 as their final update. Personally I think they should've support their phones for at least 6 years.

You won't get Android 17 for the S22, because it won't arrive until more than 4 years after the release of the phone, but you'll get security updates through at least early 2027. Personally, there isn't really that much in Android 16 that I'm all that excited about and no idea yet if there will be any must-have features in Android 17 that will push me toward upgrading before the security updates stop arriving. Phone will have served me well enough for 4 years if I decide early next year to update, which isn't bad. No compelling reason to upgrade before then.
