Is Saatva mattress worth the price?
Where are Saatva mattresses made?
Do you need a box spring with a Saatva mattress?
Last year I decided to go with Satvaa when replacing the old mattresses in the house because they had glowing reviews and were all over those "best of" lists. Big mistake. I don't know where these reviews are coming from or if the quality has since taken a nosedive or what.
So I ordered their queen size classic luxury firm 14.5 inch mattress. It took a little over a month to get to me because it was being made by hand. The mattress seemed nice when it arrived so we ordered two more for the kids. We went with two 11 inch twin size classic luxury firms, so basically the exact same mattresses but smaller and a thinner layer of memory foam on top. These arrived twice as fast as the first one did and as I've come to find out, it's probably because they were just slapped together as fast as possible.
I've now had them for slightly over a year, and my daughter experiences horrible back pain and can barely sleep. The memory foam or whatever the top is filled with has completely migrated to one side. So one side is basically just a huge lump and the other side has no cushion and feels like a rock. The stitching has also come loose. My son's is holding up a lot better, but even the filler on his is starting to migrate and become uneven. It's just not nearly as bad, yet. My mattress on the other hand is doing just fine. I don't get it.
I also ordered deep pocket sheets from Satvaa that were supposedly tailor made to fit my 14.5 inch mattress, as they claimed to fit up to a 16 inch mattress. Yeah no. After washing them once while following the exact instructions to a T, they shrunk so much that they did not fit. In fact they ripped when I tried to get them over one of the mattress corners. Those were 200 dollar sheets, too.
I just wanted to know of anyone else has tried the brand and experienced similar issues. I'm so pissed that I spent a literal month researching mattresses only to wind up with this garbage. Basically, this brand sucks and they must pay publications to lie about the quality.
We are looking for a new mattress. My husband wants to look at Saatva, in store. I have back pain and a spinal lumbar fusion. He’s having shoulder pain. He’s a heavier guy(250pds). I recently tried mattresses at a mattress. My favorite was the beauty rest black lux estate. We have a king bed. We are thinking we will have to get a spilt king due to our different “plush” comfort.
We had a Westin Heavenly bed. We loved it; perfect support, soft, quiet, very little motion transfer... but it didn't last. A year in, I was sleeping in a trough. So was my partner. I'm 5' 10" 240 lbs., so I'm not skinny, but partner is 5' 8" at 160. We both wore a deep trough in our sides of the bed in a year.
We both have had back surgery, so we decide to try Saatva. Their original is rated really high for back problems. It was noisy, and caused pains I have never had; shoulders, hips, arms from holding myself up on it. Partner loved it. After talking about it, we decided to invoke the warranty, and for 100 bucks, we got their luxury soft whatever. It was incredibly easy to exchange.
Well, the luxury soft is as bad if not worse than the original. Both of us with the shoulder, arm, and hip pain. Cannot stay asleep on it; 5 or 6 hours and the pain is awful.
So before I invoke the warranty again and return this thing, I need to find a king sized bed that works for us. I looooved the beds at the St. Regis Hotel, but at 3K minimum and no return policy that's kind of a gamble. We were super comfortable on the new Westin Heavenly Bed, but as I opened with, a 1 year life on a 2K mattress isn't feasible.
This cannot be this hard. Anyone have a recommendation for something durable that feels like the Westin, or experience with the St. Regis? Or an other option that is similar to those beds?
