r/Mattress on Reddit: Saatva Classic Luxury Firm vs. Plush Soft
February 12, 2020 -
Hello. We got a Saatva Plush Soft a few weeks ago at a friend's recommendation. She loves it. She'd originally ordered the Luxury Firm but thought it was rock hard and swapped for the plush soft and loved it so much that we just ordered it based on her enthusiasm. It's a good mattress, but man is it soft. It feels too soft, too decadent, and I question the support it's giving my body. My butt sinks into it. I have a mild lower back ache. I'm 175 lbs and 5'9". And I'm just wondering if we should swap for the Luxury Firm and welcome any thoughts.

Your lower back ache is the result of it being too soft, it's going to get worse when it really breaks in unless this is your adjustment period but regardless, I would swap if you think its too soft. With most mattresses, I have realized that if they offer 3 firmness levels, always go with the middle one first and then move up or down if that doesn't work for you unless you are petite and like 100-110lb then the soft might work for you.

I've had the lux firm and it sucked!! motion transfer, hot, springs popping, horrible. I exchanged it 2 times and then "upgraded" to loom and leaf memory foam firm and it sucks, hot, indentations, middle crater hole, motion transfer. very pretty, very nice material, stitchings. but the top indentations in the cover are to deep and u can feel through the sheets. The firm is firm but breaks down on both types of mattresses. I even have their box springs and 2x4 all around edges of inside bed frame with 5/8 plywood underneath the box springs to support the bed. with 9 legs also.. I would not recommend them and try something else. Their return service was somewhat good, had to email, call several times to get response. But they did respond and replace. the delivery team broke my front porch light, bedroom fan blade and had to deal with that as well. They are way to much money for the quality in my opinion, you can find same quality for way less or better quality for same price. just my experience. My husband does not even sleep in the bed anymore because we can't sleep in the black hole in middle and the motion transfer of us trying to get comfortable ll night is horrible!! I have to change positions several times, arms fall asleep, hip pain, leg pain, sinking, hot hot and did I mention hot.. I keep my ac at 67 at night to. i also tried a topper which helped for a couple months but now any topper just follow the body indentations and don't help. waisted $$ on topper, support, box springs, mattress.. now looking to buy a tempur pedic probably after 2-3 yrs with this, but its been horrible since the 1st year. edit to add: I am a side sleeper mostly, but do end up on my back and do tend to try and sleep on my stomach but way to uncomfortable on this bed in any position. My husband is not very picky, but a horrible sleeper, (tosses turns all night) and does not like their beds..

Two months ago, I purchased a Saatva Luxury Firm bed. I decided to go with the luxury firm mattress instead of the plush soft mattress because it was rated a 5 (middle of the road) on the comfort scale of 1(soft) - 10 (hard). For me, this mattress is way too firm. More on forum.mattressunderground.com

I’m side sleeper, I have plush soft and still love it (going on two years), though I do wonder if I got the luxury and added a topper if that would have been better. More on reddit.com
Is Saatva a good mattress?
The Saatva is indeed a good mattress - it is a supportive and comfortable innerspring mattress that features some high-quality components. That being said, it is a better fit for back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and those who prefer to sleep on top of their mattress. Side sleepers and those who prefer to sink further into their mattress might want to look elsewhere.
