I know I should do my kitchen the way I want regardless of trends or outside opinions but I am looking to see if people think this will stick around or if it looks tacky. Navy blue had a very brief moment in interiors a few years ago and I can’t stand how it looks now even though I thought it looked cool at the time.
Hi There, I am in the midst of remodeling my kitchen, I went with Catalina meadow green cabinets from RTA store and almost have them all installed so need to pick a counter.

Most people with sage green cabinets seem to go for predominantly white counters, also I think butcher block looks great. However I am leaning towards doing a mostly black counter. I am wondering what type of black counter folks think would look good with this cabinet. Bonus points for backsplash suggestions too. I found some nice slabs at MSI Denver, including Agatha black, silver waves, and titanium that I am consider. Florida waves looks nice too for a white / cream one. Titanium is maybe a little too loud for small kitchen. Am I crazy for wanting to go Agatha black here?? Thank you all pictures coming below.
My favorite so far is a green soapstone (pic 3), but my husband thinks it will be too dark and we should go with a grey and white carrera marble instead. The kitchen is in the garden level and does not receive much natural light. There will be a panel-front fridge and an island with a waterfall style countertop as well.
Here’s our before photos from when we bought the house. We’ve been diy renovating the entire house and we are finally at the point where we are picking out colors for cabinets in the kitchen. We are changing the layout to be less galley and more of a ‘U’ shape opening toward the dining room by moving the sink to the bay window and closing the pass through. That being said, I LOVE a green earthy kitchen and my husband wants black stone for the countertops. Which green looks better. We put black contact paper on the current countertops to get that similar idea! Also, please ignore the microwave. The one that matches the stove is still in the box!!
