r/aws on Reddit: Aws new service Canvas in sagemaker is a money sucker! And I can’t turn it off!
May 27, 2022 -
Aws new service Canvas in sagemaker is a money sucker! is charging me $2000 without me really using it. And their customer service closed right after you start the chat or the phone call. It is literally impossible to close things in canvas or sagemaker. I spent hours on this to figure it out
I’m literally pissed by this ridiculous aws service !

You can definitely stop it, it’s just a bit hidden. I had the same issue. Open a support ticket, they’ll likely forgive the costs if they understand that you’re struggling to get it stopped

You should be leveraging IAC with controlled provisioning / demolition - you may not be ready for cloud responsibilities if your unable to control your deployment sprawl and lifecycles

Sorry to hear this has happened. This document will assist you with shutting down AWS SageMaker: https://go.aws/3YKSBrk When you shutdown the Studio notebook instances, any additional resources, such as SageMaker endpoints, Amazon EMR clusters, and Amazon S3 buckets created from Studio are not deleted. Delete those resources to stop accrual of charges. This document can assist you with finding and shutting any additional resources that may be running: https://go.aws/3YJXSiY - Brian D.

Reach out to AWS support. That's why they are there. They may even be able to reverse some of the charges.

This is painful. I resorted to delete by CLI
Open up CloudShell
3 useful commands to list resources
```
aws sagemaker list-user-profiles
aws sagemaerk list-apps
aws sagemaker list-domains
```
Delete in sequence: space, app, user and domain
```
$ aws sagemaker describe-domain --domain-id d-your-domain-id
$ aws sagemaker delete-app --domain-id d-yourdomain-id --app-type JupyterLab --app-name default --space-name jupyter-private
aws sagemaker delete-user-profile --user-profile-name your-user-name
aws sagemaker delete-domain --domain-id d-xxxxxxx
