I discovered yesterday that my auto insurance (Progressive) gives a nice discount if you have a Costco or Sam's Club membership. It's their 2nd best discount after AAA membership.
How much of a discount? Oh, only about $95 every six months! So with that alone my Costco membership has more than paid for itself after only half a year!
I expect other auto insurers also offer this discount too. And even if they don't, I recommend calling yours up and finding out what other discounts you might be eligible for.
Good luck fellow frugits!
Edit: said discount doesn't apply to all auto insurance (I guess not even to all Progressive auto insurance products). But still a good idea to check with your auto insurance provider to see if they do offer a discount to Costco/Sam's Club members. Plus, as FFFan92 points out, Costco membership can get you lots of other discounts with other companies. And I'm sure the same is true for Sam's Club membership.
I have called Progressive 3x in the past 4 months asking if I have every possible discount applied to my insurance and they say yes. I then ask if there are discounts programs that I am not enrolled in or not entitled to that I may enroll in and they have never once mentioned Costco. I need to give them a call back! Thanks.
edit: just called Progressive. They said no such program exists and they don't collect that data. WTF?
To all of the Costco members here, there are literally tons of discounts offered through the company if you have the executive membership (it costs $55 more a year but that amount will come back to you in a yearly check, if its less they'll reimburse you). Travel, small business expenditures, auto insurance, car discounts, car repair discounts. Just stop by the membership desk in the warehouse and they can get you a big book on all of the offers.

Literally, the worst I’ve ever had. It’s cheaper to be a cash patient than to run anything through this insurance. That is all.
I’m looking to get my insurance through Sam’s and I want to know how good is it? I have heard mixed opinions and what plan is the best if y’all do have it?
I just bought a car from Sam's Club. The process was pretty easy, and price is good as well. Especially for the 4Runner model I bought that is high in demand and most dealerships not only don't haggle, they also add lots of markups. But with Sam's Club program I was able to get a 3000 discount without saying anything. Then I was able to get the dealership to take another 1000 off (they refused to haggle on the car's price. This 1000 was from dealership add-ons. They tried to sell me a pre-installed tracker which collects and sells my data to 3rd parties. I told them to take that charge off or no deal, and they did eventually.)
And I received the 150 bucks gift card from Sam's Club once I reported the purchase to sam's.
I like the program a lot. Will use again in the future.
