It's not where you book, it's what you book. The best way to save money is usually to compare the different lines rather than looking at different ways to book a given cruise. Any specific itinerary is going to have about the same price anywhere you look. However, it's not too uncommon for RCL to be running a better promotion than Carnival, NCL to be offering free drink packages, etc. Right now at least, cruises are in high demand and the lines control the prices pretty strictly. They don't need to offer much incentive to third parties to help sell cabins, so the third parties don't have much headroom for additional discounting. All that being said, if you're not booking balcony, suites or more expensive rooms it honestly doesn't make much difference how or where you book. As you've seen, you may pick up $50-100 on a given promotion, but that's usually about it. Likewise, these rooms tend to be roughly the same price for any comparable itinerary. If your goal is to get on board as inexpensively as possible, you can pretty safely just go to .com and book whichever room is currently the least expensive.
