We have a template, but it's basically the following, and as long as you know the structure, you're fine. Every initiative gets its own PPT. An overview of where the initiatives will land is on a combined roadmap PPT - a single slide, with a list of initiative and the quarters where they expect to land. The individual initiative decks have the following individual slides. Slide titles and descriptions: Two minute pitch. A short paragraph, phrased as a press release title, based on Amazon's working backwards concept. Pain. An illustration of a specific type of user's pain as it relates to the initiative. There might be a few sources of pain, and multiple users, one per slide. The pain can be based on your product's limitations, but should also be generalized in terms of the problem outside of your product. Evidence. This is where you show what you've discovered about the problem. How many folks are impacted. Size of the market. Customer feedback. Experiments you've done. Solution. A suggestion, open for debate, about a solution that could be implemented. Illustrations are the best here. How would you solve the problem, and why? Again, it's a suggestion because it can and will evolve as your design and engineering team gets involved, etc. Investment. This is the rationale for why the initiative makes sense from a strategic standpoint, how it relates back to the company vision, how it moves the ball for the sales teams. It's the justification for doing it, and especially for doing it NOW as compared to other initiatives. KPI's. This is a list of metrics you believe will move as a result of the initiative. Depending on the nature of your business, this can be a thorough analysis, or some hypothetical guesswork. Go to market. Finally, this is a short overview of the work you will do to get this thing into customer's / prospect's hands. How will you train the field? Will the docs team need to reorganize the current doc structure? Will you cross promote this with partners, and publish blogs with them? Will you livestream the launch? Sometimes it's good to fix one of your GTM weaknesses along the way in each initiative. Like "our customers are often surprised by new upgrades, and don't read our release notes, so we are going to promote short tutorials on our YouTube channel instead." Etc. More on reddit.com
