I prefer the stackable rather than the combo. When I used a single combo unit back in the day, I have realized it takes a while for my clothes to dry because the washer was adding more humidity to be dried on top of the wet clothes. Also, I like the option of running both at the same time as I often run multiple batches. Like, put in another batch to wash while the first batch is drying. Saves time. r/heatpumps on Reddit: One year review of our Samsung 2 in 1 washer dryer.
December 7, 2025 -

So we have had our Samsung 2 in 1 washer dryer heat pump for a year now, so I figured I'd do a review based on the last year.

For us, it has been a game changer for our laundry. It is really nice to have all the capability of this machine and the convenience of it with a young family. We have not gone easy on it, we run everything from clothes, bedding, our dogs beds and blankets. The self clean cycles are really nice and seem to work well, our condenser coils are basically perfectly clean and the performance hasn't changed one bit. We were a little worried that the long cycle times would be a bottle neck for us, but because it runs and does everything, we are able to start laundry overnight or if we will be out for a while so it's actually been easier to keep up with laundry versus having a traditional set.

I have also noticed we are using less detergent too. I set up both of the auto dispensers for detergent and we have had to fill them maybe 4 times in the last year. Even the largest loads only use 1-2 ounces of detergent.

Overall we are super happy with it and I would definitely get it again if I had to make the decision. Not having to switch loads and worry about the dryer vent are big pluses too.

r/Appliances on Reddit: Samsung All in One Combo Review
March 8, 2024 -

There’s a ton of negativity here for anything Samsung and all of these all in one combos. I had a Samsung washer/dryer that was here when I bought my house, they were 4 years old and I just sold them at 9 years old still working fine. Only problem I ever had was I changed a thermocouple and an idler pulley. Me and my wife wanted an all in one so we could save energy and open the space a washer takes to build shelving for more space. We also don’t have kids so drying times/laundry isn’t some huge concern for us.

So we got the Samsung, after a massive Home Depot sale and deal it was $1,800. It’s now back up to $2,500 I guess, but deals exist. Not a whole lot more than a stackable set and some sets were more. So let’s kill the narrative that they cost ‘way’ more. I’ve also read many complaints they don’t dry well or take forever. Not with the Samsung, the SOB can wash a load of laundry and dry it in an hour and a half. Clothes are perfectly dry every single time and they come out hot. After all the negativity I read on here and online I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life, total opposite. The machine is sleek, has way too may ridiculous features like Spotify and a ring camera connection. It was hilarious to use at first but it’s not something I’ll use long term. Everything about it has been awesome so far and yes there are modes that lake longer to wash/dry. Some of their AI sensing stuff, I turn it on and go to bed and wake up to clean clothes. I love it. Those will take hours but I don’t care, I’m sleeping. We only wash 2-3 loads of laundry a week anyways. I’d be lying if all the negativity didn’t have me concerned about reliability, especially with all the tech involved. But this machine looks really well built, it weighs over 300 pounds. But I guess we’ll go down that road when we get to it. As for now I can say that the Samsung all in one is awesome!

r/heatpumps on Reddit: Samsung all in one heat pump dryer and washer: coils after 100 loads
November 17, 2024 -

When I bought this heat pump dryer and washer unit (WD53DBA900HZ), one my biggest concerns is how much lint would get stuck on the coils for the heat pump system. I just passed 100 loads dried, and here is what the coil looks like. It's hard to get a great angle using a phone, but it's quite amazing how clean the coils are. The condenser cleaning process that the unit performs clearly works well. Wanted to share this in case other people also have concerns about whether the coils will get clogged with lint, which is the bane of previous heat pump dryers.

Oh, and the unit itself is great. Sure it takes a little bit longer, but not having to go interrupt whatever I'm doing to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer has been super convenient. My Emporia also tells me that the dryer uses 1/3 of the energy compared to my previous electric clothes dryer.

July 20, 2025 -

My husband and I are buying a new house and the utility room where the Washer and Dryer hookups are is very narrow, as in, we would need to purchase a stackable washer/dryer (we will also probably flip the hinges on the door so it opens out as to not bump into the washer/dryer). We were fine with that, but the thought never occurred to me that they make washer/dryer combos now! The prices of the ones (all-in-one vs. stackable) we’re looking at are not much different. Size are different by .5 cu. ft. which I’m not too worried about either.

So my question is if anyone has any experience with the combos? Are they good/worth it, or are they nothing but problems? Avoiding Samsung at all costs of course, lol.

r/Appliances on Reddit: Samsung Vented Combo Washer/Dryer - Initial Impressions
May 9, 2025 -

Model WD90F53AVB from Costco

$2099 with delivery, installation, and haul-away; after discount & before taxes

Background: Our ~19-year-old LG front-load pair was on its last legs (very noisy washer bearing) after lots of DIY TLC over the years. Finally finding a vented combo unit tipped us over the edge.

Things we like so far:

(+) Put in a load, come back a few hours later and it’s all done.

(+) Wash + dry time is about 2-3 hours depending on load and settings, which is comparable to our old pair if we stayed on top of the transition from washer to dryer.

(+) The single unit fits much better in our laundry room, finally giving us some elbow room. I ended up angling it in the corner and think it looks nice. 1-month update: This has become a bigger "pro" for us over the past month.

(+) Auto-dispensing detergent. 1-month update: Watch-out, the default settings dispensed way too much detergent for the concentrate we use.

(+) Quieter than our old units, not just the bearing which had gone bad on the washer and the rattle in the dryer element, but even the water inlet valves are much quieter.

(+) Schedule for when to finish rather than just setting a delayed start

(+) Scraper removes lint from the filter screen instead of having to do it by hand

(0) I was worried what to do with our wool dryer balls (we are not dryer sheet people but are in SoCal where it get dry and we get static) but I just threw them in with the wash and they seem to be fine. It would be a problem if we used dryer sheets, because then we’d have to use the “Dry prep” mode and add a dryer sheet before drying, defeating a big selling point for a combo unit. Or else we’d have to switch to fabric softener. 1-month update: The dryer balls have shrunk dramatically, and we are questioning if they are still working.

(+) Notifications when cycles are done

(0) Setup with the app wasn’t bad.

Issues/Questions:

(-) I don’t think I can make custom presets or save changes to a preset. I can only see how to remove/restore presets from the list. There’s something about “AI pattern” remembering cycles and settings. 1-month update: This is my #1 complaint. I have to override the dry setting every time. We only really use the normal preset and then make adjustments; the others are a waste. 2-month update: Still a pain

(-) The built-in presets/cycles limit which settings can be used. Some make sense, e.g. extra-hot temperature and extra-high high spin can’t be used for delicates. But it feels like they overthought the 4 tables of allowed parameters while neglecting custom presets. 2-month update: This got me the other day when I wanted to wash my work pants on warm with high spin then do a low dry.

(-) There are settings for an extra rinse and “Bubble soak” but not a pre-wash? Had I downloaded the manual and combed through it before purchasing, I might have uncovered these three issues/questions earlier.

(-) New issue at 1-month update: Initially I said, "It dries just fine, as one would expect from a vented unit." However, the normal dry setting still left some things a bit damp despite it being a vented dryer. We switched to the more-dry setting, and it has been fine (see above). This reminds me a bit of our old dryer needing the more-dry setting.

(-) New issues at 2-month update: The super speed setting left 1 out of 3 towels stuck to the drum and unclean with the other 2 towels still very damp. I remember this mode leaving things damp when I tried it soon after installation.

(-) New at 1-month update: Related to my complaints about presets and the missing transport screws, I contacted Samsung via the SmartThings app and also via their web site. Neither was particularly helpful, both with an initial barrier to even understand my problem. I still don't have a crisp answer on the presets, and apparently I'm supposed to contact Costco or order transport screws myself. I haven't followed up on either.

(-) The combo shipped with a simple / all-model, multi-language manual for a washer and for a dryer. I ultimately had to download the model-specific manual from Samsung. They shouldn’t even waste the paper.

(-) There’s no insert to allow drying things like shoes. Our old LG dryer had one. Maybe the washer precludes this.

(-) New at 2 months: If stopping the dryer early, it displays a warning for a hot door and keeps the door locked for a few minutes. Annoying.

(?) I don’t think I can customize which notifications are sent. I’m getting one when the washer finishes and then another when the dryer finishes. Maybe this is if I wanted to pull things out before drying, but I didn’t select the “Dry prep” option for a 10-minute delay before drying.

(?) After selecting a cycle, there are two icons at the bottom from which selections can be made. I’ve surmised these are for detergent and softener but couldn’t find them in the manual.

(?) I haven’t figured out how to disable just the key-click tone. There are settings for themes and even a Spotify app, but not this?

(?) I modeled cycles times, and a combo unit is going to take about an hour more than a washer & dryer pair on total time if one is doing a lot of loads in a day and really stays on top of the transitions. But we are tired of doing that.

(?) We’re going to have to get used to separating loads based on what can go directly from washer to dryer vs. what needs to hung to dry. 1-month update: This hasn't been a big deal. I went from 3 loads/week (darks, lights, workout) to 3 loads (washer-only to hang dry, darks + lights with dryer, workout). I'll need to be careful with new darks.

(?) If we find we need a 2nd unit to keep up with our laundry (hopefully not, empty nest next year) space will get tight again in our laundry room since this unit is deeper than our old ones. 1-month update: We feel no need for a 2nd unit. Even with our eldest daughter home from college for the summer and our youngest daughter notorious for hogging the washer, we've been fine.

(?) I noticed slight rattles from inside both sides of the unit during the spin. Usually things like this get worse. 1-month update: This hasn't bothered me or gotten worse; it might have gotten better.

(?) TBD reliability. It doesn’t have the drain tube in the door gasket that our old LG had which required disassembly and cleaning every few months. But it definitely seems more complex and combines stresses like washer spinning and wide variations in temperature & humidity into one unit.

(?) TBD on the SmartThings app (-) When I contacted support, the human after the chat bot didn’t see the question I asked to the chat bot, so I had to copy-paste it for a 2nd time. It just annoys me when the support system is poorly integrated.

(?) There’s a button to turn on the drum light, but doesn’t it just turn on automatically?

(?) New question/issue at 2 months: The touchscreen started acting sketchy, as if the firmware had been updated without a clean reboot. For example, clicking into the normal mode seemed sluggish and then all of a sudden it acted like multiple keys had been pressed.

Costco delivery:

(+) They used a nice vent hose and decent cable ties and power cord.

(-) The crew arrived around 20 minutes early despite having lots of precision on their tracking web site. This was just a minor annoyance given that I was working from home for the delivery.

(-) The lead delivery person initially voiced some skepticism about being able to take both of our old units (something about needing to check space in the truck) but I was ready to push back given that I’d already chatted with Costco to ensure they would haul off both units if we bought a combo. No problem after that exchange.

(-) I mentioned that I’d secured the washer drum on our old unit with the transport screws but forgot to ask the crew to leave the bolts for the new one. Apparently this isn’t standard operating procedure. So now, if I need to move the washer, I need to order a bolt kit. I tried contacting Samsung through the app, was redirected me to a web site, then I got a chat bot that was unhelpful, then I got a person who was also unhelpful.

(-) There was mention of selecting delivery time, but we just got assigned a time on the day we picked.

Edited for 1-month update, formatting, and typos then after about 2 months

r/Appliances on Reddit: Am I crazy for being on the verge of ordering a Samsung Washer/Dryer All-In-One?
November 3, 2025 -

Just bought a new house and once the reno is done I got a lot of appliances going in. The laundry room was a "oh yeah I'll need those as well". I was going to just order an LG set and be done, but Ben's Appliance review of the Samsung Bespoke vented All-In-One (WD90F53AVBUS) popped up and it got me to thinking about how convenient it would be, especially since the laundry is downstairs.

I'd looked into the GE heat pump unit some years back, but it was niche product for people who had expensive power. After watching the review, I started reading owner reviews and everything I could and it seems this is a device Samsung is really trying to turn their reputation on, much like LG did after the class action lawsuit. Everyone seems to love it and the design and repair-ability seem better than LG or GE comparable units. Plus the vented unit has close to normal dry cycle times unlike the heat pump. With a 5 year extended warranty, am I crazy for ordering one?

I have a chance to get a brand new, new model samsung washer/dryer all in one for $1000 (including delivery). I need a new washer/dryer, and have a max budget of $2000. But if I can get a washer and dryer for half my budget, I can get a new deep freeze too! (moving into a family house that hasn't been well maintained.)
Does that sound worth it, or are samsung appliances so bad I should avoid it? From reading reviews, it sounds like if I buy it, I should be budgeting to replace it in like 5 years, 10 at the outside, but $200 a year to do laundry at home is very worth it IMO....

I see a lot of people saying to stay away from anything Samsung but we had a Samsung washer and dryer in our other house and I loved it. I also know a few other people who has a Samsung washer/dryer and are happy with them. Is it that they’re better with washer dryer than the rest of the appliances or did we just get lucky and I should go with another brand? If so, which brands/models do you suggest?

r/heatpumps on Reddit: Washer Drier combo
November 20, 2024 -

Hi all! I'm very interested in all the discussion here lately about washer Drier combos and want to hear what you guys think.

We do a lot of laundry. We have 2 young kids, and one day we'll have two filthy teenagers, and as a result so quite a bit of laundry. We're interested in the heat pump combos because we're a bit space limited and it's just hard to do laundry with our two systems. And quite frankly ceilings are a bit low in our laundry room for a stacked system.

The thing is, we get burned with appliances fairly often. Driers that don't reach temp, or don't dry, or dry too hot they shrink all our clothes. Samsung appliances across the board that flatly suck. My wife also hates front loaders because they tend to smell.

All that to say, these are pretty novel appliances and I'd like some feedback. Our concerns are primarily getting things dry and the wash dry cycle not taking 4 hours. The idea that the canister is always dry and should never smell musty is a huge draw, and having a single unit that fits better in our space is very appealing.

What do y'all think? Got any good suggestions for a good one? Any thoughts on the fact that we may be doing 4 or 5 loads of laundry a week and how that affects things? Anything to look out for or any to AVOID?

Thanks for the help friends! I've really taken to this sub and appreciate all you guys do for us

I kept seeing the vented version of the Samsung all in one washer dryer combo, but there was never any way to purchase it on their website. And it says sold out everywhere else I've seen it. But I noticed today it says I can order and have it by May 1st. Is the vented version the way to go? It's about $400 more than the non-vented version. Just wondering if it would be more reliable in the long run? Plus it seems like it would dry faster.

Thankfully there’s not too many to choose from but still a fair amount that have been released so far, such as: Lg all in one washer dryer combo, ge profile all in one, Samsung bespoke washer/dryer, and the whirlpool combo.

Out of all of those the best I’ve heard about were the Samsung bespoke and the ge profile. But those two also have trade offs between them. The ge profile is said to have the fastest cycle time (2 hours and 30 minutes to wash and dry) but the downsides are: the lint trap is said to get clogged even with cleaning it after every cycle, and the appliance itself is very big.

The Samsung bespoke had the second fastest cycle time (3 hours), and it has the benefit of being a lot more sleek/normal sized compared to the bigger ge profile. The biggest downside I’ve heard about it is that Samsungs appliances aren’t very reliable. Meaning sure it might be fine for a year or two but after that there’s a chance it’ll have a lot of issues or need to be replaced completely.

Anyways my main reason for wanting an all in one combo washer dryer, is because the laundry room in my house is very very small. So by just having one unit it would free up a lot of space for something useful like a shelf for the detergent/towels, or a dirty clothes hamper. Lastly I’ll be paying for it myself but since I still live with family I wanted to see which one would work the best. Because if I end up getting one that breaks within a year, or takes 6 hours to do a single load, then they’ll be very annoyed at me 😂. So any help is appreciated, thank you!

New homeowner, house came with no appliances.

I'm really interested in the Samsung FlexWash/FlexDry set (washer/dryer). I like the idea that it has smaller capacity units on top so that you can run two loads in tandem, or a single full-capacity or small load. Lifestyle factors require me to do laundry ~4-5x/week. Any machine will be getting a lot of use from my household.

My initial research is showing that people are generally unsatisfied with their Samsung appliances. However, I also know that people typically complain when things go wrong and don't always offer praise when things are going well.

So, are Samsung appliances really that bad?

Edit: RIP my inbox, but thank you everyone for providing info on your experiences!

I work in appliance repair and I have for over 10 years. It is really hit or miss but one thing you have to understand is all appliances will eventually break it is inevitable. I only see appliances when they break but one thing I can tell you is that when Samsung or LG break it takes much longer to get the parts and sometimes they change small things but don't bother to update the part number so now that washer that had an issue with the control board is no longer available after only 3 years and what would have been a 300$ repair now males you buy a new machine. Or the specs on a gearcase changed and the part number wasn't updated so now your 1 year old washer that's still under warranty has been out of service for 6 weeks and you've had 7 visits from a tech who's spent hours on the phone with Samsung or LG and no one has any idea why it's not working but they will throw the same parts at it over and over again. I have heard more than once that LG and Samsung make great electronics. (In fact I only own Samsung TVs and cellphones) but keep them out of your kitchen and laundry room. In my personaly opinion and what I have in my house is all KitchenAid appliances in my kitchen and Maytag in my laundry room. They are both manufacturered by whirlpool but they are reliable, parts are available and they are easy to work on. Many are DIY if they break. But that's just my own experience and opinion.

I think it's hit or miss, but in general people will try to steer you away from Samsung. We had a Samsung french door refrigerator and a Samsung top load washer and we never had any problems. We were just looking to purchase a new fridge (to replace a GE side by side in our new home) and I was just about to buy a Samsung again until I found a smoking deal on an LG. In reality, all appliances and manufacturers have their issues and it's a crap shoot. The fancier the appliance, the more problems you potentially could have.

March 3, 2024 -

So I’ve had nothing but impressive experiences with Samsung washers and dryers for the last 15+ years. I paid premium prices and they rewarded me with excellent performance and durability. I’ve got a set that I inherited when buying my current home that are 15 years old…and the dryer is toast. I’ve repaired it 3 times and it’s not getting another expensive replacement part.

My gut reaction was to buy the Bespoke set or all-in-one but when I was putting it in my cart I noticed a handful of 1 star reviews from the last 9-10 months and paused. I get that they represent a small number of new owners in the last year but I’ve never seen more than 1 or 2 random bad reviews for a Samsung washer/dryer, let alone 5-7 for their top of the line.

So my question is, have any of you had or heard first hand of problems with a new high-end Samsung washer/dryer? I can buy the LG 360 and call it a day, but I’m hesitant to give up on Samsung if it was just a small run of bad machines out of the relatively new South Carolina factory or something.

Also, the user interface is vastly superior on the Samsung vs LG. At least as a matter of personal preference for myself and my fellow laundry engineer in the home. I’m about to drop $2k and really don’t want to get stuck in the slow-motion customer service hell because I have an antiquated brand loyalty issue.

Thanks for any feedback as well as the inevitable unrequested advice.

Cheers

Note: I love the 20 year warranty on the Samsung motor, even if it is largely just symbolic.

I got one (model WD53DBA900HZA1) for my mom back in March 2024, and it was great! Then, about 6 weeks ago, it stopped in the middle of a cycle (with wet clothes in it, door locked) with a "something went wrong" error. Samsung said not to try to open the door, they'd send a tech out to fix it. Tech arrived, fooled around with it for about an hour, then told me he'd have to order some parts and he'd return to install them when they came in. When he returned with the parts and installed them, it still wasn't fixed, so he said he'd have to come back with more parts (the same PC boards he'd already installed plus a new motor). That day came, and a different crew arrived with a guy in a Samsung golf shirt, which was a relief, but a short-lived relief. After they had reinstalled the new boards along with the motor, not only would it not start, the error message screen now just had the white oval where the message had been, but no message. At this point, it appears that every PC board in the washer has been replaced except for the touch screen. The Samsung rep then informed me that neither he nor the techs have any idea how these things work, Samsung just sends parts and tells them to install them with no additional instructions as to what to do should the repair fail. A fourth crew is coming out on 9/18 to attempt yet another repair, so we'll see how that goes. In short, the machine was wonderful when it worked, but Samsung's customer care has been dismal. My invalid mother has been without laundry for going on 6 weeks, and Samsung has done nothing to remediate the fact that outside laundry services are having to be used because their machine failed, and have outright refused to replace it until such time that they determine that its not repairable. I'll try to remember to update after the next visit.

My partner and I have 2017 front loading Samsung washer and dryer. The dryer has died twice. I searched YouTube videos and fixed it the first time, about 2 years ago. Now we're just irritated because there's no reason it stopped producing heat this time.

We live in a small house with two 90# dogs and a very small laundry room. Getting a 2 in 1 will save us lots of space, but between two humans and two house horses, we produce a lot of laundry.

So here's the questions: Does a 2 in 1 take double the time to finish a load? Will it be able to handle us and all of the additional towels/blankets/sheets related to our dogs? Is it worth $2200, or is there a better option out there?

I know a few people who have it and absolutely love it.

There are plenty of written and video reviews, definitely do your research!

I don't have the machine (unfortunately) so don't know the exact answer to your question about time but I'd imagine each load takes 1.5-2 hours to wash and dry - similar timing to washing and drying a load using a normal washer and dryer with maybe 30 mins more? Mostly a guess

How many loads do you do per day/would it be possible to spread out your washes onto multiple days instead of all one day?

We have 3. We also have 5 dogs and a cat. They perform surprisingly well and I only had positive stuff to say about them for a while. Unfortunately dog hair really causes problems with them. The two in our main house have both needed their drain pumps replaced under warranty for clogs. GE has been quite good with dealing with the problems. I’m quite vocal and my issues were escalated and they did extend my warranty on both. That said, it’s still a massive pain in the ass when a washing machine goes down for a week. In a household without pets, I’d absolutely recommend this machine. They do take longer than a standard washer and dryer to run a load, but it’s super convenient not having to move the laundry around, I love having the detergent and softener being auto-dispensed, and our stuff really does come out great. It’s also way more energy efficient to boot. It pains me that they both experienced the pump issue from dog hair. Edit: lighter loads take about 2 hours, heavy loads take a little over 3 hours. My point is, this product feels very much like an open beta and it’s a shame because they’re so close to greatness, but there are small, nagging things that simply aren’t worth the repair delays (and especially costs when it falls out of warranty). They don’t seem to have the desire to figure out a proper filter fix, and until they do, you’re better off not getting it.

our 10-year-old washer is on its last legs, making sounds it really shouldn't. we're looking to replace it and samsung is high on the list, but i know they just released new models in the last year or two. i'm trying to figure out if now is a good time to buy, or if we're near the end of a product cycle. i searched for the best samsung washing machine 2026 to see if there's any chatter about new features or designs, but it's pretty quiet.

does samsung have a predictable update schedule for their major appliances? i'm hoping for improvements in reliability (fewer error codes), water efficiency, and maybe smarter integration. are features like ai wash cycles or better steam settings expected to become standard in their 2026 line?

also, for people who own recent models, what are the pain points you'd want to see solved in the next generation? is the app actually useful, or is it just a gimmick? trying to decide if i should buy a current high-end model on sale, or wait a bit longer for potential updates.

any insights from folks who follow appliance tech would be great. i don't want to buy a dinosaur right before they release a significantly better one.

Im thinking about replacing my old washer(really old), dryer set. BB has a Samsung washer/dryer set for $1300.

I've heard, Samsung is not really reliable brand, but now BB offers, extended 1 year warranty.

I would like to spend not more than $1500.

Should I get it or look for something else??? What do you think?

Ps What do you think about washer dryer combos?
