r/readbeforebuying on Reddit: I Checked Out The Samsung 55-Inch Class DU7200B Crystal UHD 4K Smart Tizen TV: Is It Worth the Upgrade?
November 9, 2024 -

I wish to express my opinion on the Samsung 55 inch Crystal UHD TV, which I recently bought. This 2024 model seems to be extremely attractive because of its design and the assurance of good 4K picture quality.

When I powered up the device, I was struck by the precision with which my older movies were reproduced by the motion xcelerator and the Crystal Processor 4K. Not only were they x more clear, but they also appeared much more colourful. During the sports I watched, there was also a decent job done with smoothing fast scenes out thanks to the Motion Xcelerator. Such a feature as Object Tracking Sound Lite also appealed to me – the effect is enhanced as the viewer becomes more engaged into the movie or a show.

Tizen provided the smart features and it was simple to use. It was not hard to locate my preferred streaming services such as Netflix. I appreciated having the ability to search for content without the necessity to type thanks to Bixby’s voice control.

The TV, though, only has a single USB port, which is a disadvantage and may be a constraint for other users. A 60 Hz refresh rate also is nothing exceptional for gaming or very fast action movements.

To Conclude

Samsung really knows their electronics and they have done excellently with the 55_ inch crystal tv. Going for a mid market range and needing a good 4k TV that promises to get the job done, then this is right up your alley.

Introduction of the piece: SAMSUNG 55_ inch crystal uhd 4k smart tv

Yesterday i got my hands on the samsung crystal uhd 55 inch tv and i must say the features that it comes with are unreal. The content upscales and becomes comphortably smooth and the motion visuals during fast scenes is noticeable but not jarring.

Right from the start the sound was incredible creating a 3D environment with object tracking sound lite and i feel like 10 times more immersive during the movie thanks to it.

The surfaces of the TV are extremely glossy and touch responsive which makes cleaning it incredibly simple, which is great when coupled with the mega contrast since it increases the moon subjection depth effect towards darker images and with the gleaming surfaces is smoother,

Again 4k is insane looking like it transforms older shows. Gaint black rectangles are completely eliminated and everything just looks like art.

The tizen os just needs some polishing in compared to others where it ran super smooth, it felt janky to use at times.

4K Upscaling

I’ve got to hand it to Samsung. Their 4K upscaling feature on the TV is simply astonishing. Lower-resolution media pretty much transforms thanks to their Crystal Processor 4K. While watching some old shows and movies, I was really taken aback, simply put, they were way better than expected. Upscaling is not primarily flawless. especially the edges, but picture quality from the device can still be considered pretty decent, especially considering the archaic DVDs I actively watched on my 55-inch TV. And it does, in fact, upscale streaming TV shows and movies just as nicely albeit not all the time, so I guess that’s a bonus too. It is a nifty touch and great for those whom 4K are into.

Motion Xcelerator

Took the liberty in trying out the Motion Xcelerator option on my Samsung TV and I felt a change. Blurs in sports/ movie scenes that had quick motions in them were a lot lesser, the times on the TV I’d panned through these quickly they handled the transition with a lot more ease than other brands I’d previously used.

Motion Xcelerator by no means is flawless for now, Improved should be the name of the game for this specific feature, especially for those who want to target live action shows/movies. The last major car chase witnessed during the movie was a bit shaky, so were certain sports moments. However, there were certain occasions when overly fast motions became a bit shaky.

To conclude, I would say this feature was great at lessening motion blur and made fast scenes readable. It is a great improvement which more than likely viewers will commend even if they are not aware of it working in the background.

Object Tracking Sound Lite

The audio features of this TV left me speechless. The Object Tracking Sound Lite feature was one of the best. It simulates surround sound in those three dimensions and shifts its geometries with the corresponding motion on screen. While watching action sequences, it was as if I was in the middle of all the action. The virtual top channel audio augmented car chases and dole out scene with vigor. It may not fully replace surround sound systems but is certainly better than what is on built in TV speakers. The actual sound is nice and clear. The very low bass notes did not sound well some thirty seconds before A Good Look. But in my opinion, the best usage is with a soundbar or external speakers to add external bass. For normal everyday TV viewing, however, Object Tracking Sound Lite does create better than average sound that greater enhances the onscreen picture.

Mega Расрhognitive Difference

Samsung’s 2023 TV has bought me speechless with its subtitle neatness that Crystal UHD provides, the displays crisp clear contrast enhances dark parts of images to a whole new depth of almost all shades of blacks and white parts of the image to even brighter ones, while some may argue that this is not quite at par with OLED TVs, I beg to disagree. For An LED TV not only it being glass clad the detail level id saw on the movie the shadows movies had so much minuscule detail it was almost shocking. The overall improvement in the contrast ratio coupled with its efficiency makes am image much more lifelike and detailed. Saturation was brilliant rich yet without venturing to the too much. For the HDR content it indeed refined the contrast making relying on highlights that much easier. On the hindsight, the only other downside is most of the times the sharp contrast units popped out sometimes getting reflected which lead to distraction but beside that the clear definition of sharp colours was such an exhilarating experience, especially when compared to any other regular 4k screen that I have previously owned.

Crystal Вrocessor 4K Доzеn’t Сhаngе

While older style shows to me right now seem like a lucid dream, the reality is that the TV’s photos seem sharp when compared to the ideal definition that was set in my mind and the person who changed the game for me was none other than 2023 TV with its astonishing Dolby Vision and HDR 10, which once combined are game changers. Any setup which gives off even the slightest bend in color is changed or rather fixed making the TV turn into an art piece is a big statement to make but things I consider average get pushed above my ordinary criteria.

When I dissect the 4k upscaling feature its quite a mixed bag in which I appreciate the comprehensive overhaul of motion scenes especially during sports but formulate up silky movements while there is some unexpected blur that causes the scene to look vicious but when the blurry details were upscaling the quality was extraordinary.

However, it's still not without flaws—some scenes that are darker can be somewhat grainy. While it isn't the ideal conditions, the Crystal Processor 4K can generate a satisfying clear picture quality for most of the viewing.

Design

The Samsung DU7200B features a contemporary design and can easily blend in with any room. It has narrow bezels and a slim profile which adds a sense of class to the device. Overall, the TV construction felt reasonably robust with no tiny squeaking sounds and all the pieces felt solid. The combination of a glossy screen and the overall feel of the TV is stylish, however, the TV is prone to glare in brightly lit environments. The device’s stand is solid and keeps the TV balanced. It’s about 55 inches wide which makes it an ideal size for a room as it’s not too big or too small. The matte black color is universal and will suit most interiors. The design of the TV is modest and practical, although there is nothing new or groundbreaking about it. The only minor complaint is the fact that the rear housing is largely made of plastic, albeit this is common in television sets in this category.

Smart Capabilities and Tizen OS

Samsung’s Tizen OS expands the functionality of this TV and gives it additional smart capabilities. I found the interface to be intuitive and user friendly. Applications such as Netflix open up in seconds, while the onboard web browser is good enough to do a little casual browsing. Using Bixby voice control works well for changing channels or searching for content. The TV also easily connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices.

Smart features are features that exist, but they are not exactly innovative. The app gallery is good enough, but there are not in abundance compared to other systems. Lagging can happen sometimes when switching between applications in the interface. In general, the ability of the Samsung to function as a smart TV performs fairly well, although it is not out of the ordinary.

Pros and Cons

This Samsung 55-inch Crystal UHD TV has been in my hands for some time and I am going to be honest, it has its pros and cons. What I did like and what I didn’t like about it, let’s go through it.

Pros

I am genuinely impressed by the 4K upscaling. I viewed some older shows and the picture quality was better than what I had anticipated.

What is referred to as Motion Xcelerator has a positive outcome. Motion scenes look better than I’ve ever seen, with a lot less blurriness.

Although the sound is lawfully decent for a flat panel TV, the Object Tracking Sound Lite feature certainly improves the sound quality.

While viewing a movie, there is an Automatically adjusting PIN for sound and the visual is enhanced by the 4K Enhancer color automatically correcting the picture.

Cons:

The smart features are somewhat an inconvenience. Compared with other smart TV systems, I found the Tizen interface somewhat clumsy.

For the price, the picture is decent but definitely not the best I have observed on midrage and high range TVs.

The remote is rather basic and lack a fast switch button that can assist with streaming apps.

The virtual assistant ‘Bixby’ is barely helpful and just a bit more responsive that I expected, thus reaching for the phone was a common habit.

It is quite a TV and quite some features are built in it, nevertheless, it has its shortcomings. The ability to work with content transformation and to cope with shaking are major advantages, the smart interface and the voice assistant, in my opinion, are sorely lacking. For the price, it has a reasonable value, but could greatly evolve.

Customer Reviews

I have recently purchased a Samsung 55-inch TV but in my opinion, the customer feedback is limited still. As there is only one review, it is difficult to make wide interpretations regarding the user experiences. In that review, damage in delivery was mentioned which is concerning. However, I would wait for a few more reviews before buying the TV as it is not rated highly. There are too many complaints regarding the performance and reliability of the TV. Plus, this is a renewed model so experiences may differ from person to person.

Conclusion

My experience with the Samsung 55 inch TV has been average, I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone. But the 4K picture quality is nice along with the smart features, but other users haven’t rated the Samsung TV highly. It does feature Q-Symphony sound and motion smoothing which are great but there are better options available. I believe this might work for some individuals, but it isn’t my top recommendation based on my experience and what I have learned from other individuals. I would suggest looking at other models before purchasing this one as there might be better options available.

r/carverscave on Reddit: Samsung UN55DU8000 55-Inch 4K HDR Smart TV Review: The TV That's Too Damn Clear for Its Own Good
February 18, 2024 -

You're settling in for a night of binge-watching, armed with enough snacks to shame a small village. You flip on your new SAMSUNG UN55DU8000, and suddenly, you're not sure if you're watching "Stranger Things" or if Eleven and the gang have broken into your living room.

Welcome to the world of ultra-high-definition television, where the line between reality and fiction is blurrier than your vision after a 12-hour Netflix marathon.

But is this 55-inch slice of visual ecstasy worth your hard-earned cash, or is it just another pretty face in the cutthroat world of smart TVs?

Let's find out.

Update:

First Impressions

When the delivery guy dropped off the SAMSUNG UN55DU8000, I got a box that looked like it had been through a war zone. But lo and behold, the TV inside was pristine – a testament to Samsung's packaging prowess or sheer dumb luck.

As I freed this technological beast from its cardboard prison, I couldn't help but marvel at its sleek design. The "AirSlim" moniker isn't just marketing BS - this TV is thinner than my ex's patience. It's so slim, I briefly considered using it as a very expensive bookmark.

Setup was a breeze, which was a relief because the last thing I needed was another excuse to procrastinate on my Netflix queue. The on-screen prompts were clearer than my future, guiding me through the process with the patience of a saint dealing with a tech-illiterate grandparent.

But then I turned it on, and holy mother of pixels! The clarity hit me like a truck filled with HD crystals. It was almost too much – like seeing your favorite actor and realizing they have pores just like us mere mortals. I wasn't sure if I was watching TV or if I'd somehow developed superhuman vision. Spoiler alert: It was the TV.

Key Features

4K Upscaling: Remember when you thought your 1080p setup was the bee's knees? Well, prepare to eat humble pie. The UN55DU8000's 4K upscaling is like giving your old content a facelift, Botox, and a personal trainer all at once. I rewatched "The Office" and swear I could see individual fibers in Dwight's mustard-yellow shirt. It's so detailed, you might even catch continuity errors the original editors missed.

Motion Xcelerator: If you've ever felt like you're watching sports through a strobe light, the Motion Xcelerator is your new best friend. It smooths out motion so effectively, I could track individual beads of sweat flying off LeBron's forehead. Fair warning: it might make some movies look like they were shot on your cousin's camcorder, but for sports and action flicks, it's excellent.

Dynamic Crystal Color: Watching "Planet Earth" was like taking psychedelics without the risk of waking up in a stranger's bathtub. The vibrant hues might make you question if you've ever truly seen color before. Spoiler: you haven't.

Object Tracking Sound Lite: This feature promises 3D surround sound that follows on-screen movement. In practice, it's like having tiny sound ninjas hiding behind your TV, throwing audio shurikens at your ears. During a car chase scene, I instinctively ducked as the sound whizzed over my head. My cat, however, remained unimpressed.

Gaming Hub: As a casual gamer who's about as coordinated as a drunk giraffe on roller skates, I approached the Gaming Hub with skepticism. But color me impressed – it's like having a console built into your TV. No more fumbling with HDMI cables or fighting for TV time with your significant other. Just don't blame Samsung when you lose track of time and miss your sister's wedding (Sorry, Jen).

Pros

  • Picture Quality: Let's not beat around the bush – this TV's picture is sharper than a samurai sword factory. It's so clear, you might start questioning reality. Is that really Tom Cruise on screen, or did he break into your house?

  • Design: The UN55DU8000 is sleeker than a greased-up otter. It's so thin, it practically disappears when viewed from the side. Perfect for those who want their living room to look like a minimalist art gallery rather than a Best Buy showroom.

  • Smart Features: With Samsung's Tizen OS, this TV is smarter than some of my ex-colleagues. It's like having a personal assistant who's actually competent and doesn't steal your lunch from the office fridge.

  • Gaming Performance: This TV handles games smoother than a conman handles a mark. With low input lag and the Gaming Hub, you might finally have an excuse for why you keep losing at Fortnite. (Spoiler: It's not the TV's fault.)

Cons

  • Overwhelmingly Clear Picture: Yes, I'm complaining that the picture is too good. It's like dating a supermodel – sometimes you just want to watch TV, not feel like you're peering through a window into another dimension.

  • No Dolby Vision: Samsung and Dolby Vision are like oil and water, or me and early mornings – they just don't mix. It's not a deal-breaker, but it might make some cinephiles cry into their overpriced popcorn.

  • Sound Quality: While the Object Tracking Sound Lite is neat, the overall audio isn't going to blow your socks off. It's like expecting a gourmet meal and getting a decent TV dinner instead.

Final Thoughts

If you're the type who still thinks VHS tapes are "good enough," or if you faint at the sight of your own pores, you might want to ease into the 4K world more gently. This TV doesn't just show you the emperor's new clothes; it reveals every stitch, fiber, and the tailor's social security number.

But if you're ready to see your content in a way that might make you question reality, and you don't mind potentially ruining "normal" TVs for yourself forever, then absolutely. Just be prepared for a period of adjustment where everything looks weirdly hyper-real, like you're living in a simulation where the graphics card got a major upgrade.
