I was on Samsung's site just now, and they are showing all 4 Ultra colorways (Blue, Gray, Silver, White) as "Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)" and not available until July 25th. I thought the new color was the only update vs. the previous one. Are there sensor or other differences between the 2025 vs 2024 for the existing colors? Or is it just that it comes with One UI 8 right away?

I am wanting to buy my first smart watch.
Should I buy current galaxy watch ultra or wait for soon to be released new galaxy watch ultra, .
Will the differences between the two be significant.?
I know that the main difference is 32GB (2024) vs 64GB (2025) and the addition of blue color.
But I have 2 main questions:
Does anybody know if sensors / biosensors are updated to a higher revision or so? Not asking if there are new sensors or features (which they are not), but maybe a newer or revised chips which may allow new Labs features that right now we don't know (just wondering).
does the 2024 Ultra bands work on the 2025 Ultra version? They look the same but don't know if they are or not.
Thanks guys!
I'm considering getting a new smartwatch and am torn between purchasing the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) now or waiting for the 2025 model.
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024):
Released in July 2024.
Features include a titanium build, sapphire crystal glass, dual-frequency GPS, and advanced health tracking.
Priced at AU$1,299.
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025):
Announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025.
Maintains a similar design with a titanium case and round display within a squircle body.
Upgraded with the Exynos W1000 chip, 64GB storage, and 2GB RAM.
Runs on One UI 8 based on Android 16.
Expected to be priced around €699.99 (~AU$1,150).
Pre-orders start today, with shipping from July 25.
I'm based in Melbourne, and I'm wondering if it's worth waiting a couple of weeks for the newer model, especially considering the potential improvements and similar price point.
What do you think? Is the 2025 version a significant upgrade over the 2024 model? Any insights would be appreciated!
Sensors are the same except for depth rating and internal memory? Is that correct? I went on Samsungs Website but even their product comparison is vague. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I meant Ultra 2024 and 2025. I swear I proofread that shit like five times. 🤦♀️
When I'm looking at online listings, it's hard to tell unless it's explicitly stated. I know there's a storage difference, but is there a visible difference? It seems even the model numbers are the same, unless I'm missing something.
I am thinking about getting a ultra for a while now but the ultra 2 is coming the question now is if it will have the same specs as the ultra. I found websites saying its just a new color and I found websites that say its going to have different specs. I would like your toughts and if your reading this have a nice day.
Hey everyone, suppsoe you are in my position. I like the ultra model watch but it doesn't have google gemini which is huge down. True the galaxy 8 has it but the battery is way smaller than the ultra. From your perspective what would you pick?
P.S, i cant afford the ultra 2025 model
I have the 4 classic but seeing how the ultra is just basically added memory, it somewhat appeals to me (not entirely) . The price isn't the greatest for these upgrades. My battery life isn't great and doesn't last on half marathons. I was hesitant to upgrade to the Ultra but seeing how the Ultra 2025 has more memory, it'd be great for long runs. Anyone have the 4 classic and switched to the ultra? how was that?
Design: kinda like it kinda hate it, i love how big it it but hate the way the smallest band doesn't fit my wrist (the band is to big)
Screen: really love how bright it gets but hate that its a round screen on a squire
Wrist band connection: yea i had to watch (ultra) a YouTube video to figure it out😅
Looks: for my style (gray sweatpants and gray hoody) the white version looks fantastic absolutely love it
Buttons: i dont understand why they give it a rotating button (middle one) that doesn't work on screen (maybe i have a setting wrong)
Battery: it started at 84 and after around 30 minutes its already down to 71 but ill give it a week to adjust its downloading stuff in background and its still getting used to my patehern
Conclusion: i like it more than i hate it so far
Pros (Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025): • Battery lasts longer (2–4 days vs Apple’s ~1.5–2). • Bigger storage (64 GB vs 32 GB). • Super bright display, easy to read in sunlight. • Rugged build (titanium, sapphire, MIL-STD-810H). • Works great with Android ecosystem + new AI features. • More color and strap options.
Cons (vs Apple Watch Ultra 2): • Apple’s ecosystem still feels smoother, especially with iPhones. • Diving & extreme water sports support is better on Apple. • Galaxy charges slower. • Some sensors & workout tracking less accurate. • WatchOS apps & polish still ahead. • No rotating bezel and bulkier feel for some wrists.
