I use to own the Vizio Elevate P514a-H6B-RB which I sold off marketplace few wks ago.. The Subwoofer of this Vizio sound system sounds very great.. Shakes things as needed. Voice Clarity might not be the best, but the punch from the sub was good enough for me.
I have been considering buying the Samsung HW-Q990F next month during Black Friday, and I wanted to see if truly this sound system is just hype, cause everyone on Reddit I'm the comment literally recommend this or Q990D.. Other consideration next month is the SONOS Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc.
What is your personal experience.. I check RTINGS.com too and they seem to rate the Q990F well. Is it just a social media hype or this device really blows the rest out from your experience..??

I have the q990d. For the price point I got it at around (900usd) when it was initially released. It's worth every penny. Easy setup hardware and software. Extremely good overall sound quality. I am happy with the bass(I am not a bass person). The sound details are amazing at times. Great clarity. Me and a few friends sometimes get confused as to if the sound is from the audio or is it from somewhere nearby. E.g. a phone ringing has been confused as someone's phone was actually ringing.

I fell for the 990F talk in this sub, and I am pretty satisfied. Got it from woot (still available at the same price) + a discount from RetailMeNot. Right now, I still have to experiment on placement For me, it's an upgrade, as the other place has an old Vizio sound bar / sub with and old Vizio TV.

Rated an 8.5 for “Mixed Usage” as opposed to last year’s Q990D rating of 8.6.
From rtings: “The biggest difference is the Q990F has a redesigned sealed subwoofer that rattles less than the ported Q990D when playing back deep bass, but you may prefer the bass tuning of either more. The Q990D, on the other hand, compresses less in the bass at max volume. Otherwise, whichever is less expensive may be the deciding factor.”

Obviously this is just a another repackage with minor differences Samsung's been doing this since the q990b the biggest difference has been when they added HDMI 2.1 support that's the only real upgrade they've had since that everything else has been really really tiny.
